my idea about condition build for thief.
Try this.
I use this very successfully. At the moment I’m playing with zerker trinkets for neck and rings to get more up front damage to counter the diamond skin eles.
This should have a good mix of damage and defense. Best-case scenario it tops out around 3k condi dmg and has several stealth mecahnisms to keep lots of bleeds on via sneak attack. 2 stunbreaks and average condi-clear via shadowstep and the ’shadow’s embrace’ trait.
Runes of Aristocracy coupled with traits will give you an EASY 15-20 stacks of might early in the fight.
Shadow trap is there for the long duration stealth coupled with 12 stacks of might — can use it to get out or offensively to finish them off.
Going heavy into the shadow line will keep you very healthy via shadow protector, shadow rejuvenation and shadow’s embrace. Steal applies confusion giving this build access to three damaging conditions.
This is the one I’ve used:
I’ve been using scavenging runes, but they’re not necessary. Some of the other runes could easily work out much better.
This build is gimmicky. The basic idea is to CnD, pop your venoms, and then apply a large amount of conditions on a target using surprise shot. When they’re locked in place, you then put some torment stacks on them, and a bit more immob when it starts to wear off.
Obviously some people will be able to clear some (or all) the condis, but in some instances the target will just be stuck there melting.
The venom sharing also means your allies get all your venoms, so it can be a really powerful thing to pack in a small scale group (i.e. 5 man roaming party).
If you want to play solo with this, I’d suggest swapping out skelk venom for HiS and BV for TG. The HiS is just necessary since it provides some condi clear and can get your opponent off you, but also allow you to initiate another stealth attack without having to CnD first. TG is useful for this build because your venom sharing will share to the other thieves. I like to try and CnD, pop TG, pop all venoms to give to the thieves, then use surprise shot on someone. The thieves then start hitting them and you basically have 3 sets of venoms being dumped onto a single target for a large amount of conditions.
Of course, if they somehow avoid or counter your initial opening, it can be problematic. In some cases it might just be better to try and only pop the immob venom first so they’re locked down, then get the others in there so you don’t waste them.
Like I said though, it’s a gimmicky build. The other builds people are posting will probably be more well rounded and viable in the long run.
Well, since no one actually read the OP here is the build I run that does not use dire armor. It is probably not the most optimal build but it is a bit more fun than full dire.
1750 Power (with food)
30% Crit Chance
1750 Condition Damage (with food and stacks)
2400 Armor
14500 Health
