P/P – 50036 – Carrion – Rune of Trapper – Sigil Might and Bursting
Have fun stacking bleeds and might; and Unload spamming.
Full set of 5 unique skills for both dual-wield weapon sets: P/P and D/D – Make it happen
PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.
Interesting build. I wonder how much better it would be stacking might with Sinister armorset. Shadow trap is such an intriguing skill. Teleport back to trigger point > From stealth drop caltrops and needle trap. 10 might stacks is going to hurt.

Even with power, the immob is rocking, especially in Panic Strike builds.
Yes this trap would probably work even better in a power build. You get weakness/immob/poison/ and even vulnerability. Use in lieu of basi venom or in conjunction with it to set up a backstab.
Might work in spvp but in WvW traps (inc the buffed needle trap) are still garbage. See that random mob that got aggroed? Annoying sentry? Pet? Yeah there is a decent chance the trap will trigger on that instead of your actual target.

You can change your utilities out . There are a whole pile of trapping rangers out there too and they have the same issues.
See that Sentry? Maybe he is on your side. Set that trap at that sentries feet and watch the sentry take out the person who stood on the trap. Use this trap on the entry to a castle or keep be it your own or the enemies.
A ranger and pet is only one class out of 8 but even at that if a trap can take out the rangers pet then the ranger relying on that pet to supplement damage or take away his conditions is at a disadvantage.
When I fight an enemy zerg I very often do not have a target. I select them as the situation warrants. The person(s) in that zerg who happen to step on that trap become the target. They at the front of the zerg headed across a choke point? All the better. Set it on the stair into the lords room at hills. It will have more utility in that situation and do more damage then would a signet of shadows.
A steal can be dodged. A heal can be interrupted. An attempt to shadow refuge prevented by a sic em. That hardly makes those skills crap.

That depends on how you deploy your traps. If you are trying to lure someone into it then you’re doing it wrong.
