Hi guys, Ive just finished levelling my seventh char, the thief! I mostly play WvW, but do dungeons and open world to level and for a break. Thief was pretty hard to work out, so Im looking advice on my build that I am working towards in case it seems wrong to experienced thiefs. Other chars seemed my straight forward. Keeping in mind this is predominantly a WvW build, how is this looking:

Traits:
30/0/30/0/10

Deadly Arts: Potent Poisons, Quick Venoms, Residual Venom
Shadow Arts: Shadows Embrace, Leaching Venoms, Venemous Aura
Trickery: Uncatchable

Primary Weapon: Shortbow.
Secondary Weapon: Double Dagger.

Armor: Shaman reward armor from CoF (Power, Vitality, Condition Damage)

Runes: Currently looking at Superior runes of the undead. Was considering Orrian, but I really hate Arah. Superior runes of the afflicted are still looking good but $$$. Maybe worth buying though?

Sigils: Sigil of Venom, Sigil of Corruption, Sigil of Force

Rings and backpiece from FotM: Endless Quiver, Seal of Osuku, Royal signit of the Doric.

Skills: Hide in Shadows, Shadow Refuge, Signet of Shadows, Spider Venom (activated as auto attack), Dagger Storm.

Im not sold on Double Dagger. Its not so excellent in PvE.

I’m kind of wondering why you’re using venoms, too.
Poisons are not all that great. If you want to go condition damage I’d recommand using caltrops, SR(Shadow Refuge) and something depending on the situation. Bleeding is sooo much better. The venom share is quiet debateable tbh. Some people like venom. I’m not one of them because they’re too gimmicky.
But IF you want to go venom build get some more venoms!
Signet of Shadows in dungeons is generally bad IMHO! Put something different like the vulnerability venom.

You only need to go 20 points in DA if you really want to run Venoms. Residual isn’t good enough to go all 30 points into DA.

You are running 1 venom spider if you proc all 5 shots at +50% duration that is 45 seconds of poison.

Edit: Wait shortbow is your primary weapon? Why are you running venoms again? You have choking gas.

If you want to go SB you want damage not condition build. You want the clusters to count since its a bit harder to land.

Hi guys, thanks for the thoughts. I will only be WvW with this char. Ive started doing some test runs pre-gear. Just to point out, there is one major reason I prefer venom. Most of my work will be Dolyak kills, flag flipping and killing small groups (1-3 players). When capping a flag, Im sure you know the veteran guarding in pops heal which is quite substantial. Also in long fights with small numbers, particularly when there are 2 or 3, good groups will be able to micro and heal after you burst them down. So, yeah, bleed I agree is good but the 33% heal reduction on them is really helpful. Ill have another look at it though and see if there is a better way. SB and dagger comes with venom already, so maybe I don’t need venom skill as well.

this is my take on venoms build, uses 3 venoms. I think you either need to use more venoms in your skillbar, or use less venom related traits if you are only using one.
