Hey guys

I am new player and maybe i am doing something wrong, but in HoT (Verdant Brink to be precise) i’am a bit struggling with my Daredevil.

How i understand it this class is all about dodging and evading attacks however the way thing works i can’t really rely on it.It’s not so bad when i am soloing things slowly since i can sort of predict what’s incoming , but in anything involving other players things starts to get shaky because :
- Mobs are flashing like christmas trees and i can’t see what’s going on.
- Enemies sometimes look in one direction but suddenly turn around and do instant attack in another.They also change aggro a bit too random.
- When there are multiple monsters flashing and doing attacks in random directions all in different time frame and range it get’s almost impossible to both evade and deal some damage without getting drop very low very fast.

I was also doing that wyvern boss last night (i think it was wyvern matriach) and with not so strong ranged attacks thief sure feels a bit useless.

It’s probably not as bad as i describe it, but what are yours impression on thiefs in HoT so far ?

i dont think many people care much about PvE.
i didnt upgrade nor im into PvE much also so i cant judge but in PvP im still doing perfectly fine with my old thief.

I never played on my thief really much, every now and then i roamed in wvw. My experience with daredevil is simply amazing! I really enjoy playing on it again.
I agree that it gets a bit harder when there are multiple mobs attacking, but I think that is pretty normal. I dont really have any difficulties though. Daredevil had a kitten ton of evade, even with many mobs I think it’s enough.
I use staff, soms evade traits and withdraw btw

I’ve long argued that Thieves simply aren’t properly balanced for PvE because they just go down too fast and have fewer tools to mitigate damage than any other class. In order to get reasonable defense out of them, you have to completely gut your offense. Other classes don’t have to make such huge sacrifices.

For HoT, I would definitely recommend mixing in some defensive gear instead of trying to go full Zerker like was preferred in the past. Try Soldier’s. If you have Daredevil unlocked, is there a reason you’re using D/D instead of Staff? Either Staff or S/P might work better for you depending on your build. You might try running with Sigil of Malice and Invigorating Precision from the Critical Strikes line.
