Guild Wars 2

I made a norn thief and I really like it. Well, I did like it. I realize that I must suck at playing a thief. I’m stuck on the semi-finals. I’ve been able to kill everything else up to this point. I enjoy using two daggers because that just seems like what a thief should use, but I’m open to using other weapon sets, as suggested by the posts I’ve read. The centaur kicks my butt every time. I steal, I dodge as much as possible, I use roll for initiative and venom on CD. I have 2 in critical strikes and 4 in trickery. My weapons are all my level as I bought new ones before this quest. Any suggestions? I’d really like to learn how to play the thief. My main is a ranger and that’s pretty much easy mode. Bear in mind that I don’t PvP.

For any PvE content, equip a Pistol in your off-hand. Use Black Power, #5, and stand there killing everything. The AOE blind means your enemy can’t hit you. Enjoy.

OR you can equip shortbow and use its AoE amazingness to help you.

But seriously, I usually run Dagger and dagger, with shortbow for events. Dagger/Dagger for single target awesomeness.

Shortbow damage is kinda crap, even when the mobs are swarming. I find the sword dps to be much better, and the cripple really helps. The only good use for shortbow seems to be skill 5 for mobility, and 2 and 4 for champion events.
And total blind time from Black powder seems to be ~7 seconds, it applies it every second while smoke lasts, and blind lasts a few seconds more. It gives time for 2-3 autoattack cycles.

I agree with Vexus, Black Powder has saved my butt on more than one occasion

Level your character to at least 2 levels above recommended level. Oh look, it’s like taking a stroll during a sunny afternoon!
