Been browsing through the forum here and reading some different things. Initially I wanted to make a P/D condition build because I’m just a fan of condition builds with any profession. After playing with D/P a lot however I’ve found myself really enjoying the feel of it. I’ve also been reading that it’s the most versatile build Thieves have.

I don’t want to be completely glass because I can be a bit clumsy so the build I’ve made here;

has a little bit of toughness for survivability and some extra vitality from Practiced Tolerance. I have no idea if this is a good or bad build or not as I’ve yet to reach 80. Just planning ahead for when I finish up so I can gear up and get going.

This is with WvW solo roaming in mind by the way.

It looks like you’re trying to build a WvW build.

The standard spec is 6 crit strikes, 6 shadow arts, and 2 in acrobatics.

The manditory traits are practiced tolerance, hidden killer, infusion of shadow, shadows embrace, shadow’s rejuvenation, fleet shadow.

Most SA thieves generally take shadow refuge, shadowstep, and blinding powder. Using Bassi venom as your elite. I think you can generally go ether way with your heal, but most use hide in shadows.

Go for between 30 to 50% crit strikes. I think most people commonly run with 30% in wvw and try to find fury elsewhere in the build. The lesser your crit chance, the more you should be dumping into your survivability. You should have at least around 200% crit dmg

I would avoid scholars for wvw, as it’s too easy to remove 10% of your health. I enjoy travellers for the convenience, but I don’t run a shadow arts build ether so take that as you will.

I’m just spit-balling here, but something like this or this might be good for you.

If you’re going to be using withdraw, highly recommend centaur runes instead of Scholar. These runes will give you near perma swiftenss allowing you to be faster while also dropping the speed signet. You can replace that with infiltrators signet- a teleport every 30 seconds +8% movespeed outweighs the ferocity and damge buff from scholar runes.

If you’re going 4 in power think 5% dagger damage >sundering strikes trait, and I think you should replace side-strikes with critical haste trait. Side-strikes is weak trait when its combined with hidden killer, and critical haste gives you (a lot) more aa burst after backstab.

I wouldl also run fire/air on your D/P, and maybe energy/air on sword, or accuracy + air instead of accuracy +fire. Other than that build looks good

This is what I’ve come up with based on the info from you guys. To be honest I’d prefer to avoid cookie cutter builds but since I’m new to Thief I think I’m okay with that for now, lol.

Speed runes are fine, I actually used them before switching to centaur (and since then I’ve switched to wurm). another option, which is what I do, is use whatever runes you want and for mobility swap in speed signet in when running long distances, and swapping it out before battle.
