Hey so as the tittle says I’m new to the thief class, what build I’m using is 30/30/0/0/10, for maximum “dps” ans running with Sword/Pistol for awesome bursts, so far it worked very well in sPvP against every class, I accept the part of squishiness I have since I love the big damage, my question would be: Is the damage worth it? AND is my build simply beginner luck and weak opponents or it could work further in my game play?

usually it is 25/30/0/0/15, the extra init is worth more than the grandmaster trait.

with sigil of force and sigil of fire on your sword/dagger, and sigil of bloodlust on your other weapon set.

5 scholor runes and 1 divinity rune on armor, or 6 ogre runes, or 6 lyssa (for condi cleanse)

This build was used for a long time (usually with shadow refuge, shadow step, signet, and/or haste) but lost a bit of its punch with the mug nerf. You will probably find that it is a bit dangerous to go around pistolwhipping nonstop.. much like d/d you need to use shortbow a large portion of the time in team fights.

There is also a lot of discussion about the autoattack on sword just being better than pistolwhip: it doesn’t cost init, doesn’t root you in place, has comparable DPS, and does not punish you for hitting retaliation. That said pwhip has excellent cleave and works wonders in certain spots.

If you can deal with the lack of stealth options to keep alive (smart teleporting helps), it can be a competitive build still.

Full burst is still fine in sPvP.

Do not run full burst in tPvP. The current meta requires personal condi cleanse. You can’t expect your team to take care of condi cleanse when that much is coming all the time.

the main question you should ask yourself imo is if you want sword/pistol… youre highly dependant on your enemy standing still when you do your 3rd spell on s/p. besides that, dagger auto attack does more damage (seems less, but they are quicker) + poison.

All up to you ofcourse, play around with them. Also; ask yourself if you think the 15 points in the bottom line are well spend… you could go for 25/30/0/15/0 aswell for a tripple dodge.

Make sure to use a +stun duration sigil – but not really sure how viable S/P is in PvP. I’m also not a fan of all-offense builds, but I guess that’s personal preference. If you have issues with survivability, you may want to try other builds. S/D is a solid choice for PvP.
