Next patch, next nerf
If we use backstab we lose half of our initiative pool permanently
I would be very concerned if the Thief received more nerfs without buffs somewhere else. It’s fairly easy to see that Thieves are lackluster in Spvp and are struggling to bring anything meaningful to the team.

i was also thinking the venom share 300 unit range is too BIG, and needs toned down to 50
If the past patches are any indication of the next nerfs coming to the thief profession my guess would be: pistols will be loaded with blanks, swords will give enemies a free shave and daggers will trim their nails. Seriously though, I think they may (cringes teeth) get rid of stacked stealth.
I think when you are going to create a new character in the character creation, as soon as you push on the Thief button, you are suddenly downed from your chair by a ranger’s pet in its new version godmode
but they’re a lot stronger
than they will be next year!

of course the new field\trap anti-stealth is a clear move in that direction

actually they ninja nerfed death blossom
old: you get evasion when you started the attack behind the enemy (full duration)
now: you get 1/4 sec evasion somewhere in the middle of the animation, not so reliable
which is a complete fail combined with the 25 bleed stack limit…
Pistol off-had ability “Headshot” will be revamped. will keep the same name but the thief will put the gun to its own head and BAM! * bypasses down state, thief suicides BUT grants no points to the opponent, nor to its team and does not drop loot bag.
I think they will give thieves buffs to Arrow Carts. That in conjunction with arrow carts and WvW traps removing stealth will make Thieves their own worst enemy. This leaves everyone else free to ignore thieves and play with each other. See it’s a buff that is also a nerf! We can’t even complain.

its time to adapt guys. dual S/D thief is awesome evasive spam. im pretty tired of runnin this D/P build. gonna upload video few mins from now
Hmmm, the only reasons I would see to run the exact same weapon set as both your sets would be to:
- Take advantage of “initiative on weapon swap” (30 points in acrobatic)
- Take advantage of “on swap” weapon sigils
With all classes in GW2, I think it is best to have at least one ranged option and one non-projectile (usually melee for most classes) option.
I highly recommend the sword. It takes a bit of getting used to but it is very deadly.
If you aren’t a fan of Thief ranged weapons, I have found that Sword + Dagger / Dagger + X is quite nice. You use the Sword + Dagger for general fighting and when you know you’ve got it in the bag you swap over to Dagger + Dagger and finish them.
Oh yeah … as far as nerfs go … if a thief says something helpful or something nice about their class, they are instantly killed and nerfed into oblivion ;-)

Try your best to not make mistakes, but, when you do make mistakes, learn from them.

That’s exactly the point of the dual S/D spec – High init regen (via Traits, cheif among them quick pockets) and high endurance regen (via 30 acro, sigil of agility, and endurance on weapon swap).
It has its weaknesses like any spec (no ranged weapon aside dancing daggers, no Inf arrow for mobility) but its still super fun to play (I feel like I’m playing Anets description of a thief rather than a teleporting backstab machine or a venom/poison dispensary) and can actually contribute to most team fights.
It works, its fun, it has a high skill ceiling, and it’s not OP – expect it to be nerfed soon.
