Hello my Thief friends,

I am a new player and I just killed Zhaitan less than 2 weeks ago. I saved a lot of gold and bout a zerker set with scholar runes. However, recently I’ve read these stuff that Anet is planning to kill off zerkers and dungeons in the HOT expansion. Will my investment in my zerker gear and scholar runes be a waste of hard earning gold? Or it will still be at a decent spot after the expansion? I can save for another build(daredevil watever) but i feel bad wasting hard earned gold on stuff that will decrease in price and usefulness

Thieves have the lowest hp pool and lowest armor in game, there is literally no point in sacrificing all the dmg thieves can put out by increasing hp or armor. Unless you are planning to play wvw, stick to zerk.

The Death of Zerker meta just means that not everyone will be able to run it for raids and fractals. My bet for Raids is that the majority of the party will be running zerker or sinister gear whilst a few will be spec’d for tanking or healing.

technically, we have higher armor rating than eles, but eles have a bunch of heals and prot.

as for the original question, unless you want a condi build, thief is, like the guy i quoted said, just too squishy, which means even on tanky stats you’ll remain squishy, so you might as well go full on glass cannon.

Zerk is still one of the best choices. You could also grab sinister, or mix zerk with valk. Dire or DD with soldiers could also be a good choice if you feel you really need more survivability.
