Norn or Human?
To be honest, when I create a Norn, I want to make him big like the Mountain from GoTs.
But as a Huge Norn Character, not only you stand out like crazy, but it also feels clunky.
Norn are easier to click on, even in the WvW mess.
Humans are more discreet. They can still look big and fit, and their moves are smooth. Fits the Thief perfectly.
Thief – Raiden Hayabusa
Thief – Gouki Kurokawa
I find human characters on screen fit the agile game play of thief better imo. Kind of like how I can’t do jumping puzzles on a charr for the life of me, even though I’m very good at them on a human lol. Weird how that works
In my opinion, Human and Sylvari make the best thieves due to animations, camera angles, the way armor looks, etc.
I have a norn, human, and asura the master race…
I hate male norns – that will forever be the only combination I’ll never have. It’s like running behind a walking fridge. Human male thieves are my favourites. Female Sylvari are good too, male are a bit stiff and Asura and Charr are more for fun than for competitve play, although I find it pretty annoying to fight an Asura in wvw.
All of my characters are female. It looks like my medium armor norn (I am doing each race per armor class, so eventually 15 characters) will be some other profession then. Thanks.

Try to do JP or a vista on an asura. Sure, the camera angles are better but your jump height is bleah.

It’s the same as any other race, it just feels different.
Animations are technically the same.
As to how it feels… It depends on the physical appearance you give the character.
Like, the biggest possible Norn will feel slower because he’s bound to relatively short animations with a bigger body.
A smaller Norn will feel identical to an average to tall Human Character.
I’d go with the advice to try both of them on a Jumping Puzzle and for a little rampage on the golems in PvP with various weapon combinations.
Or just go for an Asura.
Make a giant norn with that mustache. I did lose against such a Thief because I was too busy grinning at this mountain doing acrobatics.
the smaller character is the harder it is to backstab it and the easier it is to aim spells (aka backstab) while playing that character
imagine you make huge norn and try to backstab asura…
personally i am all for salads~
[Teef] guild :>
I like the female norn’s looks. They have some good outfits in medium armor.
That said, I always thought that humans and char were more theme-appropriate for thieves.
Norn thieves kind of look like the Star Wars Kid but maybe sword/dagger #3 would look pretty awesome.

I couldn’t agree more with this statement! LOL walking fridge. I actually laughed so hard, I accidentally dropped my phone. Thanks Jana! Still love you <3
I have one of every race. I favor my female Norn the most, followed by my Charr. My Human one is alright, but sorta boring, and while Sylvari thieves can look awesome, there’s just something that doesn’t play quite right for me. While I love my Asura thief, I just sorta burned out on Asura in general.
Tldr: I’d recommend female Norn or male Charr.
PS: Norn snow leopard elite can be hilarious with its stealth in WvW if you care.

Oh noz! I hope your phone is alright!
(My main started as a male Norn Guardian and was deleted after the first story – after a lot more transformations (4) he became that sensitive red headed bag of laundry he is now – I did run with exotic starter gear for about half a year, btw. – I still wonder why everybody in wvw focussed me)
:*
Conan the Barbarian looks like a Norn and he was actually a thief. -minus the great sword :*(
I rolled human male and love him.
However, if I was to do it all over again, I’d be really tempted to go Asura…
Any player that wants to create a new character will have to make a decision:
Play as an Asura?
Or play as one of the lesser races?
Of course, not everyone can be as gifted as the Asura, that’s why there are all those other races. There needs to be a balance in the Eternal Alchemy, after all.
There will always be a superior choice: The Asura, but from time to time, people find enjoyment in playing as an intellectually challenged race.
My thief is a Norn. Granted, I wouldn’t make this mistake again, but I still grew too attached to her to ever consider upgrading to a superior race.
I might, however, create a second thief and this one will definitely be an Asura.
The mob has spoken and the turrets shall be burnt at the stake.

One can’t have enough thieves!
I find it difficult to time my skills with her, though.
(That was a D/D ele btw)

Aside from feeling like I’m running slower, my min height male norn feels about the same as my female human. Though my Norn Thief was my first character, so since I’ve played this body type since beta’s it makes sense for it to feel normal to me. (Hard mode in SAB helped a lot with that.) (Also, it amuses me when people mistake me for human)

Human male thieves the best !
Sylvari Quick little ninja thieves.
I wont like Norn till they look as good as Braham does in the loading screen artwork. Where’s all the proportionate muscle at in-game?
