Not another nerf thread.
Dude, theres “Assasin’s Reward” trait, that everytime he uses a skill that costs initiative he heals, there’s Signet of Malice, that everytime he hits he gets healed, then picture this: He stealths gaining health, then he gets out of stealth shooting you 4 times with the 1st skill healing again, plus the traits that heals thieves in stealth, plus food or boosters that grants regeneration. Here’s a simple explanation. I’ve done that before, I can make a build for you sometime.
I guess I can see this adding up. Along with very well timed dodges. Still seemed like alot more. Idk. Ill probably setup a heal build on my thief and play around with it to see if i get similar results.
Thanks for the feedback everyone.

One of my (weaker) sPvP builds.
With healing, toughness, con damage gear it leaves you with 12k HP, which you are able to refill constantly with the regeneration buff from entering stealth, the healing on use of CnD by spending Initiative, and the signet healing from the pistol stealth attack (which is even greater if stealth attacking out of Shadow Refuge, since it’s a Dark combo field, granting you Life Steal).
It’s basically half the healing, half the HP, half the toughness and half the damage of my Necro build, without any group support and healing, which is why I’m not using it often, but it’s the best you can do as Thief.
Probably close to the spec you were fighting.
How that guy could beat your group alone still makes me curious, but i guess it’s just a case of bad play.
(This is the easiest to play Thief spec in existens, while still being stupid good, if you mind the effort you have to put down to play it (absolutely none), and i hope Anet will focus their nerfs on ridiculous builds like this, instead of nerfing great builds like Backstab Thieves, which actually require skill due to being extremely dangerous to play, requireing high reaction times, positioning and careful target picking)

The non-stealth heal skills only have a 15 second C/D, combined with regen-in-stealth (stealthing at will, of course) and a tiny HP pool it can appear to be an alarming amount of healing.
That’s how my Thief started out, and looking back, considering how clueless I was about everything, I had a lot of success in PvP running P/D, D/P – possibly too much.

Well keep in mind things work a little differently in WvW. We had a pretty big zerg fight going on in the background. Culling played a big role. added maybe 1-2 seconds to his stealth time. meaning he was only rendered on my screen for MAYBE one-two seconds before restealthing again. While that nec build of yours may be tough as kitten to kill in sPvP in reality in WvW the stealth build will probably last longer since you wont be focused as much. (If at all…most people dont even bother going after thieves due to culling)
BTW with that build what kinda gear do you use? power/toughness/vit? or stuff with +healing?

Lol all these thieves complaining about not being able to be in melee range against Mesmer shatter clones, and how they are saying its is uncalled for, but then they go and say against a heavy condo thief just don’t go in melee range it’s simple. LOL, anyways I ran this build for awhile on my thief and the healing is insane. Definitely right up there with a bunker ele. The thing is good luck targeting them with stealth every 3 seconds and healing out the kitten Anyone saying they are not going to kill anything is ridiculous, bleeds will easily kill the avg set up that runs around with 1 stun break utility, 1 condi removal utility, and then their preference of utility. The reveal timer on stealth just needs to be lengthened. Especially with culling and rendering issues, the thief is nowhere near visible for at least 1-1.5 seconds of that reveal debuff, it’s more like stealthing every 2 seconds. Plus sneak attack uses 0 initiative, so this allows the thief to spend all of his initiative resource focusing on stealthing. If you guys are saying these thieves won’t kill anyone, take a look at wild bills videos and tell me he’s not killing anyone with his bleeds. I played this for awhile but it was really boring to me just spamming 1 and 5, with some death blossoms, caltrops and dodges thrown in.

Thieves damage is OP?
I have a build for every single class in the game which has more damage than a Thief can pull off (while having more surviveability).
Liar…

Apparently hes never been hit by a 17k backstab lol
EDIT: Obviously not talking about THIS build…but thieves in general probably have the highest hitting single attack in the game.

For a single hit warriors hold that honor with Kill Shot. For damage done via a single ability against a single target that honor would be held by warriors with Hundred Blades. For total damage output by a single skill? Probably some kind of longterm pulsing AE hitting 5 targets every second. Maybe it is thieves, Caltrops could theoretically do something like 65,000 damage over 18~ seconds and 5 targets if they all rolled around in them for the whole duration.

I have a guildie who runs a shatterer Mesmer build.
We wait until all (4-5) people group on on the middle point to cap it, and instead of teamfighting, he just instakills the whole group, giving us pretty much the edge we need to win every single tournament, since we then just put a bunker bomb Engeneer on the side point next to our spawn point, and me as Support Necro with a DPS CC Guardian on the main point, while having 2 roamers for buffs and objectives.
People complaining about Thieves make me laugh every time i see 5 people getting nuked from 100 to zero in one second by that mesmer.

For the Thief build i focus on Toughness, Con dmg and Healing.
I just got 2 thing I wanted to add to this thread, when you’re playing a p/d thief it’s actually easier to survive with more targets IMO especially melee targets because there’s not just one target to CnD for stealth but ( I’ll take op I.e. ) three and they’re actually going towards you so u don’t have to chase for your cnds now add that with the healing previous posters have mentioned. But it’s also gonna be harder to finish off anyone like a lot of people mentioned. Second thing is I’m currently running a 10/30/30/0/0 build for p/d with SoM and shadow rejuvenation and I use omnomberries that’s an extra 300 + heal for each hit if they all proc which happens more times than you think. So with 15k hp I’m always going from half way to full like nothing

yes, mesmer shatter bug ftw….
If this thief was like me he was built for spec and only has 12,025hp like I do. Bring me down to 50% hp and I have 6k hp. My heal does 4k something.. there you go, from 50% to full life in one heal. Hammer is such low dps. Try a greatsword.

Ive tried pretty much every build under the sun on my warrior. Hammer suits me best for WvW. Its perfect for zerg battles. Plus the build allows me more survivability so I can take a pretty serious beating. Greatsword has too many drawbacks when it comes to actually fighting players. Hundred blades is stupidly easy to dodge. Hammer also has 2 great abilities for dealing with thieves. the 3 ability puts a cripple on anyone in front of me with a pretty decent range in addition to this it also puts a 1 second immobilize on anyone it cripples. then my burst ability which is a massive AOE stun. I dont need to see them to get these abilities off I just need to know the general location. Still does pretty decent damage along with all the crazy CC. Auto attacks average around 1.5k to 3-4k on crits.
Also im starting to run with stomp now specifically to deal with thieves using shadow refuge. the second i see it go down I run over and knock them out of it. (also good for fights at hills. always funny to knock people off the cliff)
