The world could use more S/x Thief
FIST FLURRY! ORA!!
If I were to change one thing about the thief I would let them have swords as an off-hand weapon. The thief specializes in dual wielding weapons, so it does not make sense to me why they can’t dual wield swords.
Off-hand skills
Since the sword is more of a weapon has a bit of CC to it I wanted the off- hand skills to have somewhat of a defensive feel to it will some CC
Skill 4: Siphon Slice (4 initiative) (range:130)
Slice you foe giving them weakness for 5 seconds and giving you 1 stack of might for 5 seconds (cleaves), (combo finisher: whirl)
Skill 5: shadow riposte (5 initiative)
Block the next incoming attack. If a melee attack is blocked that foe Immobilizes for ½ seconds and you are granted stealth for 2 seconds. Gain 2 initiative if not attacked.
Dual skills
I took some time to look at dual skills and I notice that all of them have some sort of movement effect add to them (example pistol whip, even though it roots you, gives evasion, and unload allows you to move around while your pistols are a blazin’), and I also notice that the off-hand weapon in a dual attack always strikes first followed by the main had weapon. With the skills that I thought up I wanted to imitate that while adding some evasion/defense to it (with an exception to the D/S dual attack =P).
Sword/Sword Distracting Riposte (range:130) (5 initiative)
Block next incoming attack. Interrupt foe and give them 2 stacks of confusion if foe is within range.
Pistol/Sword Infiltrator’s retreat(3 initiative) /Shilling shot (2 initiative)
Infiltrator’s retreat (range:130) – stab foe with your sword and evade backwards.
Shilling shot (range:900)(Combo finisher: projectile)- shoot at foe. If foe is hit then transfers one condition from you to that foe.
Dagger/Sword Impaler’s dance (3 initiative)/ retrieval strike (3 Initiative)
Impaler’s dance (range:600)(Combo finisher: projectile)- throw sword at foe that cripples for 3 seconds and applies 1 stack of bleed overtime (5 seconds)
Retrieval strike- shadow step to your sword and stab your foe (with the dagger). Gain 2 initiative if foe was suffering from cripple.
Feel free to post your own thoughts or ideas of what the sword off-hand should be!
i know u r talking bout using 2 weapons but i wish they could do something for single pistol single dagger single sword
we r able to use them but we have 3 skills … but no one would ever use them they r not worth it
i wish they could do something with them
but any way that we get new weapons / wep combos / skills i am happy
Here are my idea for a off-hand sword.
Sword #4: Wild throw, (600 range) Throw your sword at the target, that pierces though them. If it hits, you can activate the second skill. (4 initiative)
Stalker strike; teleport to the swords location and attempt a strike at your target, (2 initiative)
could be used as an attack or a from of juking if you let the sword travel a distance before you use the second skill
Sword #5:Deadly riposte; Block an attack and teleport behind your target(600-900range), preform an attack based on your main hand. (3 initiative)
Sword: Blades of Steel; attack with both sword around you. (1 initiative)
Dagger: Shadow stab; Slightly quicker and weaker version of back stab (2 initiative)
Pistol: Shattered shot; Point blank unblockable shot that strips a boon(I initiative)
S/S: Impossible odds; (no inital initiative cost) (3 seconds)block all attacks, lose one initiative and attempt melee per block, gain 1 initiative when you successfully hit.
( Bit of a weird one, and sounds op, but it’s meant for a thief to be up close and personal, with the counter being staying at range to drain initiative)
D/S: (3 combo chain) Pheonix strike; Attack with both weapon and gain vigor for (2-3 second) (1 initiative)
Mantis sting, ; cripple target ( 2 initiative)
Horns of the ox; knock down moving target (2 initiative)
(Because it might be the only way we can get a knockdown on a weapon set, behind a initiative based combo chain, with added moving requirement, and the combo would look fancy as hell)
P/S: Leap and Retreat;(450-600 range) Leap at the target with a sword attack, and leap back with a pistol shot, (3 initiative)
(Combines the old sword 2 and pistol 4 from back in the beta,)

In my opinion, swords are meant to be a evasive mobility weapon. Blocking is more of a guardian and warrior thing. Thieves are meant to be dexterous and agile, blocking just lacks acrobatic finesse.
Offhand:
4 skill
1)Shadow hunter (3 init) – throws your sword to your target (900 range) and transfer 1 condition to the target if you have one (projectile finisher)
2)Shadow stalker (2 init) – (10 second window of opportunity to activate if Hunter is successful) teleport to your target and steal 1 boon (1200 range)
5 skill
Afterimage (4 init) – Functions like a regular dodge but you are invisible for the duration of the dodge. Any projectiles you evaded are reflected. Leaves a still-image of yourself behind that lasts for 2-3 seconds (leap finisher)
Dual skills:
s/s
Hurricane (3 init per spin/second) – Spin around with your two swords (130 radius). Each spin lasts for 1 second and you can hold down your #3 skill to continue spinning. Has a 1/4 second evade, that doubles as a projectile reflect. (whirl finisher)
d/s (blast finisher for both options)
1) Shadowmine (4 init) – Plunge a sword into the ground that you can return (lasts for 5 seconds) explodes and applies “insert condition of choice” to targets (100 radius)
2) Shadowbomber (3 init) – teleport to sword (1200 range) and activate the explosion
p/s (20% projectile finisher)
Vigil (4 init per use) – leaves a shadowy sword at you’re location (lasts for 5 seconds) that sends an image of yourself in the sky that hails down bullets and deal “insert condition of choice” (max 4 swords on the field)

No weapon skill for thief grants initiative, kinda defeats the purpose of costing initiative. But I like the ideas, and agree that thief deserves OH sword. Mesmer gets it (for w/e reason) and warrior gets it, thief is a dual master. They should be able to dual wield any 1H weapon.
Just my thoughts on the skills:
Sword/X:
Sword/Sword:
Dagger/Sword:
Pistol/Sword:
