I’ve noticed that the people who Q_Q about Thieves stealth are usually the same people who thank you for putting down a stealth to save them from down state. Is there something wrong here or am I really beginning to see the ridiculous fakeness in people?

Most friendlies just attack through my refuge or blinding powder so I really don’t think they care. Could be a easy revive for them but… alas, never happens in PuGs.

I’ve thought about this before and I know quite a few people that have complained about having to deal with stealth.

But when they hit the dirt and I have to run over and give shadow refuge hugs to rez, it’s completely fine!

Every thief should deny a stealth whiner a stealth rez at least once. (i have, to prove a point) :P

I remember one particular pug of HotW P1 that I ran – the Warrior in the group showed immediate disdain, saying all Thieves are cowards that just hide in the shadows. In both Stormbringer and Butcher encounters, I engaged them in melee with no problem whereas he sat back with a Rifle and still got downed a number of times, being ressed most of the time by me Shadowstepping back and/or Refuging him.

He didn’t say a word after that

If you hate stealth so much, why are you only complaining in the thief forum? Mesmer have stealth and it even complements their clones. Its apparent that your hate is only directed toward thieves and stealth.

If you hate stealth so much, why are you only complaining in the thief forum? Mesmer have stealth and it even complements their clones. Its apparent that your hate is only directed toward thieves and stealth.

No he directs his hate towards anything that is not necromancer. And if he gripes about necromancer it is about how terribly weak they are as for being on the topic. I learned awhile ago that zerking is cool for COF and not much else. So when I am not running COF I run a full healing stealth build and it provides a lot of group support and I am able to face tank bosses like the HOTW ones (above ground we really need better access to stealth in the water.) Or they could give us some of that kittenin evasion we get underwater on land lol.
and even if someone in my party has massive thief hate I still res them because the longer they are alive the faster we finish the less I have to hear about them griping on thieves

I play Warrior in sPVP and I have more trouble against S/D builds, countering a D/D or D/P thief on the other hand isn’t so hard. I fought a very good thief who probably traited around initiative regeneration, and with a good timing, he dodge half of my auto attacks and all my control abilities like kick, shield bash, rifle butt very easely. Buffing myself was useless sinds he could steal my boons. And whenever I tried to “kite” him with my Rifle or use Flurry on him he would just teleport away or in front of me in a matter of second… Most frustrating of all was the underwater combat part, he would just stay on the control point and spam his Shadow Assault like he was on steroïd pills.

My bigest issue with this profession probably comes from the facts they can completely ignore cooldowns on weapon skills and build around to be thermonuclear dodging powerplants.

Other classes can rez without stealth just fine, sometimes dropping SR is simply over doing it.

SR doesn’t just hide them but it does a mass heal too. I’ve still saved tons of people with stealth, which is why I always felt like my Thief was a little EMT. The nerf to aggro loss made that less effective though. We’re still the best rescue class imo. At least I know I personally am a god among rescuers as Thief at least.

I play all classes, and I was using S/D Thief earlier today. Warrior needs a huge buff, Necromancer needs bug fixes, Thief needs precision nerfing/fixes, Mesmer needs nerfs/buffs, Elementalist needs buffs, Engineer needs nerfs/buffs, Ranger needs a huge nerf, and Guardian is fine.

To give my personal opinion about that:

- Warrior: Might need a buff to encourage build diversity but needs damage reasonably toned down in exchange.
- Necromancer: Might need some escape mechanism and, for sure, bug fixes.
- Thief: I say D/P stealth spamming needs a nerf but otherwise they are fine.
- Mesmer: Scepter needs some love and maybe something to not be useless in large scale battles. /edit: + bug fixes for sure.
- Elementalist: D/D is fine i think, S/D could get some love and staff needs a little AoE nerf + more options to fight on it’s own and in smaller scale.
- Engineer: Can’t say much about them…they are lacking build diversity so something could need to be done here.
- Ranger: Absolutely need a healing nerf (sorry guys, but BM builds are nearly impossible to kill)
- Guardian: Scepter autoattack needs a speed buff but otherwise fine.

so wait, do you just try to res them and die? that would be the way to do it, so when they start telling you to use sr, you can point out that sr is op’d and you’re not using it out of principle.

I definitely feel like an kitten hole when I use stealth, but never guilty or like it’s unfair. It’s just an annoying mechanic because it requires you to flail around randomly with no direction until the thief re-appears. The problem I feel is stealth is such an all or nothing mechanic. You either have your stealth with all your potential burst ready to go and whatever defensive stealth traits you have, or your not stealthed and lose all of that and lose the chance for the first strike. I don’t think stealth is cheap, it’s just all or nothing. If stealthed, OP. if not stealthed, UP.

I agree with a good chunk of this but some of this is a little short sighted.

Warriors dps is fine in PvE and is non existent in pvp due to not being able to stick to a target (with most builds). Despite that and cries for 100B to be changed the fact is the only thing missing from warrior at the moment is sustained healing and some passive condition management vs the active we have. I should also remind you quickness nerf was a DPS nerf primarily targeted at warrior. Now sorry to be rude but warrior build diversity while having it’s staples is vast. All lines have good traits some better than others and you can run many different builds. Read the warrior forums sometime it’s not an issue.

I will agree with necro. There aren’t many escapes but atm necros level of control in PvP makes up for that also the high base HP. The real problem with necro is the ridiculous number of trait bugs they have had since day one that no one has touched. Also Pet AI in PvE is still lacking and like all pet classes aoe need to be looked it and how it effects the pets.

Thief needs a nerf but not to stealth for DP but blinding powder. Stealth is a main mechanism and as we know with P/D and DD for that matter spamming stealth anywhere outside spvp is completely possible. So the main issue is that blinding powder and its projectile are simply too strong. Other than that thieves need proper nerfs in WvW but I doubt they will come because they need proper buffs in PvE. Sustained dps needs to be upped but honestly I still can’t fathom how they thought it would be fine to leave so many things nerfed in PvE and not realize how broken this class would be in WvW. For instance Pistol whip is still nerfed even after quickness nerf and mug nerf. But skills like larcenous strike are too strong vs classes with weak access to boons. Despite that thief is weak in tpvp but in the most popular type of pvp WvW too strong. It is insane that one class could be so OP and UP at the same time. Sorry it is ranty.

Mesmer mesmer mesmer. Phant builds will likely get a nerf but I have no clue how it will be implemented itf at all. Scepter might need love but it got love and it got taken away with confusion nerf. The two issues facing mesmer are clones getting killed by AOE (much like ranger pets) and mantras still not being quite what they should be with shatter and phant spec out classing them.

Elementalist needs a smarter nerf and a better buff. DD needs a dps increase across the board on auto attack (save scepter Air 1) and other places also. ATM you can achieve higher DPS with S/D and that simply should not be possible due to melee vs ranged. Also months before the QQ threads arose we were promised a DPS increase for DD but it never happened. Trait lines 1 and 2 need a rework and have needed one since day one. Water needs some scaling reworks where base healing lowered healing power coefficient increased because there is still no trade off to bunkering. This can’t happen until DPS is reassessed of course.

Engineer is in a tough spot too many OP builds got nerfed too mercilessly leaving HGH at the top. More diverse and harder builds (3 kits etc) are out shined due to this. Rather than nerfs I think engineer needs flat out buffs in certain areas.

BM bunker has changed not at all in almost 7 months. Fact is no one noticed it for this long and with the nerfs to more prominent builds players found something new to complain about. BM Bunker is strong in one place spvp and 2 smart players could drop one. The funniest thing is before anyone ever noticed BM bunker it got its first nerf when they limited cat bleeds. I find it hilarious. Even if they do nerf it would have to be spvp only because elsewhere ranger is still relatively kitten excuse my french.

Guardian could not agree more.

Last note thief DPS should never ever be above warrior DPS. One class can’t have top burst, top sustained dps, top movement, and have combat stealth all at the same time.
