I like to be a Hybrid, I want to be able to wear my opponents down from afar with bleeds and I also want to be able to get in my opponents face at the same time. So any advice for a Pistol/Dagger & Dagger/Pistol Setup? What gear and where should I put my traits?

thieves dont have the defense or longevity to be a hybrid. sword builds can….kind of. but the 2 builds u mentioned are too hard to mix. not enough trait points to spread around. d/p is annoying jumping across a cloud puddle for invis 3 × .....hence very easy to get caught in AOE by GOOD PLAYERS. i like p/d as even zergs wont kill me
but then again thats my build not the average p/d

I run this on my thief but not as a hybrid I just am the normal condi but I keep d/p for emergencies.

Certain classes just don’t run hybrid well thief is one of them i would say warrior is another but mesmers can hybrid kind of decent.

P/D as a damage set is trash imo. P/D is all about bleed duration thats what makes it strong bleed damage is secondary.

skill 3 and 1 have decent dmg not great but also not high initiative cost when using p/d. it can be made to work although id have a 2nd set of wewapons as a finishing set with a hydromancy rune on it

I’ve tried this, but to no avail. P/D naturally relies on bleed dmg, and D/P relies on direct dmg. You cannot get the best of both worlds.

I’d like to see Shadow Strike changed slightly, so P/D can be used in a hybrid or a damage build that has some survivability built into it as follows:

You’d still get “Stab your foe, then shadowstep away and shoot them”, but if you use it while you’re not in melee range, it would instead fire the shot (without the shadowstep or stab) and apply 2 bleeds@4 seconds or another DoT, perhaps poison. I’d like to see the base damage of Shadow strike boosted a small amount as well, but I suspect that wouldn’t happen.

Shadow strike does decent damage in a direct damage build, around 3-3.5K with around 3100 power. Allowing the thief this bridge to a hybrid setup could help expand build variations.

I like the idea of having the shot from shadow strike fire regardless of whether or not the dagger strike hits. An additional condition of some kind would be amazing as well. Preferably burning.

If they could code it, I’d have it set up so if you use it in melee, it works as it currently does, without any extra conditions. If fired at range, only then would it apply a condition of some sort.
