Hey all, just thought I’d share a short compilation of clips I recorded roaming in WvW.

Build is 26006 full zerk with air and fire. I thought I’d try something different from the boring Condi P/D and I’m having a ton of fun with it. My second set is S/P with fire and speed.

Anyways, enjoy and feel free to leave feedback about where I can improve!

Thumbs up very cool. Might actually have to try dps P/D now. why do you use the trap over some of the other utilities considered to be meta?

A variant of this zerk build is actually been in use for sometime and it is somewhat popular in T1 roaming, although not as popular as the condition based variant. Yes, the trap and use of S/P as a secondary is subpar for the build. Ideally, you want blinding powder, SR and shadow step along with S/D or D/P as the secondary to P/D to make the most of the steal stun combos.

I use the trap because I’ve found it an extremely useful stun, especially when you get the jump on other thieves, just precast it with steal and it will drop them 90% of the time, then you just CnD>1>3 and its over if they don’t have a shadowstep available. Also, it’s saved my kitten a couple of times while I’ve been on the run at low health. (I also like it because no one ever suspects it, and they’re kinda like wtf..)

I also like sitting on the trap when facing a thief and when I see it proc, either Cnd or press 3 (you’ll know it hit when you teleport away) or get out S/P and spam away.

I do swap it with blinding powder quite often depending on the situation

As for secondary weapons, tbh I mostly have S/P as my camp clearer and to get swiftness from a lot of mobs at once, I usually just stay with P/D when engaging targets. I know it’s not ideal but I have never been too good at weapon switching lol.

It’s been well-known for a while now that P/D power builds are functional because shadow strike has very high scaling and even sneak attack hits for substantial numbers. Obviously the mobility and steal potential from the set sets it over the edge, same deal with the condi variant.

I’d rather not since it’s just basically full zerk armor and trinkets and I’m sure there are many up already. Traits are typical Trickery build, with Long Reach instead of Bountiful Theft, Executioner and Mug.

And I am using Pack runes

Ugh I don’t have the money for pack, I just finished Quip yesterday. Priorites and such.

Long reach is a great and underutilized skill.

Thought Id throw that guy a bone, I know two guys running this zerk build with pack runes as well and they are having great success in the T1 solo roaming scene.

I wish I could ever do 4k+ with sneak shot and shadow strike
Maybe I’ll try out CS instead of PS… all the CS builds seems to do 1-2k extra damage with any non-auto ability.

I try to tell myself this every day, particularly after being melted by every Necro in sight.

Intrigued and will definitely have to try this out. I have seen people do the 00626 version of this (condi and power), but not the 26006 version (except for DP). Time to get testing.

Well where would the fun be in that? It would be a video of me dodging zergs and maybe finding one or two good fights.

I didn’t claim it to be the best set available to thief, it’s a set that works for me and is fun to use, and that does indeed make it as good as I make it out to be.
