P/D gameplay footage in WvW
Good use of your SB, well done!
Ferg Crossing
That was truly epic (applause’s) you make your fellow thieves very proud. I am curious of the type gear/sigils/runes/weapons you were using. If you would reveal your op condition build the rest of us.
this was awesome what armor u using?
hey thanks for watching. The stats for all my gear is power, vitality and condition damage. For my armor I use 2 runes of the krait, 2 runes of the afflicted, 1 rune of the necromancy and 1 rune of the grenth. On my pistol I use sigil of the Agony and on my dagger I use sigil of the corruption. The armor is from karma merchants at Ruins of Orr, but the gloves are from the Arah Dungeon vendor.
I wouldn’t go as far to say how awesome that this is. They were just awful players that he found.
Most of those people were absolutely terrible, even if culling was an issue here to let you continue to do this to them.
Well played but not unusual for P/D….although I admit it needs skill to keep it up for that long infront of an enemy keep.
But does it not frustrate you that you simply cannot win such a fight because people just keep on rezzing each other? Even if you manage to finish people off completely they just keep rezzing. In the end it all becomes entirely pointless because there’s no way you can actually win.
This is by far the most frustrating feature of GW2 and why I’ve turned my back on WvW. What point is there in taking on larger groups if you can’t win, even when outplaying them?
It was awesome, regardless of how bad the others were. Well played. I am curious why you use rune of the necromancy and grenth over additional krait and afflicted? You’re missing out on 54 condition damage. I also don’t understand why you have only stacked 40% bleed duration (30% bleed, 10% condition). Unless you have 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% to coincide with 1, 2, 3, 4 sec additional bleeding, respectively, you’re wasting stats. May I suggest 2 mad kings (10% condition duration), which will put you at 50% for bleeds, and an additional 10% for your poisons. 2 Centaurs (15% bleed duration) would put you over 50% (55%) for bleeds, but won’t help the poisons and wastes 5%.
I agree Dee Jay- that is the most frustrating part about this build. Down state in general is only good for bad players in my opinion.
PS- How did I accidentally underline that?

I put on those runes without much thought. I’ll definitely check out runes of the mad king though, thanks.
I wish that the Downed Stated and Haste were removed from the game completely. They are crutches for bad players and seem borderline exploitative for skilled people.
Hell you really don’t even need it for PvE. If you die, you can just run back to the group, there aren’t any Boss lockouts that I know of or you could just learn to play better (like dodging or using defensive combo fields).
I don’t have an issue with reviving dead players, but they revive too quickly in the downed state. That is why people want to play these glass cannon builds, because being survivable doesn’t matter when you can’t put people down for good or make it not worth breaking off combat to get someone back up.
Whats the consensus on uncatchable at this point. I am still on the fence about it. I haven’t been running it lately and instead run thrill of the crime. I feel like its a decent trait but not necessary.
I have been favoring spider venom lately instead of caltrops but I change around my last util slot alot been trying smoke screen lately see how I like it.
Also most video’s posted people always say they where bad players but while they where not very good players its still outnumbered with arrow carts raining down so gotta give some credit for that.
I don’t see alot of videos posted of any spec where its a 1v5 or 1v4 and there is a GC thief in the enemy force. If you don’t take the thief out you can’t really 1vX and thief if at least decent can stall you out until the other guys get you down or force you to abandon.
All in all though I enjoy P/D alot because of the survivability. I like to look at it as our version of D/D tankish ele. Though we have jack for aoe really I use the sb also but more for the poison then the cluster bleeds.
I would suggest if you look at superior sigil of geomancy its a pbaoe 7 second base 3 stack bleed. I have 75% bleed duration and my geomancy bleeds last for 13 seconds it also does damage I have had it hit for almost 1k before and I have like jack for power really.
Just have to be careful when swapping weapons as it will break stealth if you hit something. Not to hard to do and is excellent when you swap to bow then lay a poison field down.
Yes down state is lame if you can take on more than 1 person but I kind of see the point of it. If there was no down state then I think you would have a whole lot more complaints then now.
On the subject of runes I would go with the 2 centaurs over the mad kings, mad kings 10% duration isnt going to do jack for you poison tbh. I tested it you would need the 33% trait in DA and a 4th afflicted rune to get some good extension on your poison. Also centaur runes are way cheaper than mad kings.
With 10 points in DA, a 4th afflicted rune, and the food the best I got out of serpents touch was a 18 sec poison on steal up from a 10 sec base. Since choking gas is a pulsing field anyway I dont really think its worth it to actually go for poison duration.

I myself run a P/D Thief in WvW, since I run in a small group or solo most times. I never use Uncatchable. The amount that it slows really doesn’t help (If I need a cripple I use Dagger 4) and the bleed is really useless.
Like you I use Thrill of The Crime. I wait till Necro’s turn my bleeds or poisons into boons or a Guardian boons himself up and steal it from them or if someone gets stability.
That was probaly the best display of a thief ive seen. Truely maximizng the class potential…even if culling was a factor
And when was this fight btw.

I use to run Thrill of the Crime, but one of my friends convinced me to go Uncathable. Since I run all conditions and no crit, Fury is useless for me. I gain Swiftness every time I dodge so that boon is also unnecessary. And 10 seconds of Might isn’t as good as dropping Caltrops every time I dodge. Those Caltrops can do up to 3 stacks of bleeding and it cripples. However, if you are running with a few friends Thrill of the Crime will be a better choice.
