I’m not here to QQ. But why 80% or more thieves are playing P/D condition?

I mean the only good thieves I see runs other builds that this one. It really getting boring in WvW.

Can someone explain me why so much thieves migrated to that build?

Mostly due to an overreaction to crit damage nerf. Its also quite easy to do decent to roamwith but also many players are clueless and dont know how to fight it but there are lots of counter to it.

I play it and I like having personal cleasing and healing . Most thieves don’t go in squad and since you could find random builds out there I find it better to prepared to counter or avoid most. The game is not about 1v1 so for a class like thief to roam you play with what you find most helpful in 1v1 stealth.

In a good squad than you will see a different spec. Acro sustain pales to SA and when more pvp modes are available other than conquest you will see to them in pvp as well even with no dire.

P/D does not evade they can be trolled and killed low pressure.

‘I have 4 sec every time he out of stealth’

I wouldn’t call it overraction. Most of those that migrated to condi builds simply can’t play power buids anymore. High burst carried them previously and now to achieve decent burst, thieves have to go full paper. With condi they can do high dmg AND have high survivability too.

I wouldn’t call it overraction. Most of those that migrated to condi builds simply can’t play power buids anymore. High burst carried them previously and now to achieve decent burst, thieves have to go full paper. With condi they can do high dmg AND have high survivability too.

Power build are still very strong(optimal for serious group play) esp if you run sup sigils of air and fire with strength runes. Though after strength rune nerf other options maybe be better.

for 1v1 you will see more p/d builds but with little pressure the thief go to SR and you can go away or stay to kill him. most of them (at least the ones they i met) bit clueless how to burst
for me its 30% s/d, 10% d/p, 5% d/d, 55% p/d

so far in group fight i see d/p mainly

in group fight i can admit i see more p/d condi but if you run with group they should easily cleanse. sure the p/d can catch you and kill you but as any other build

still power build are more rewarding than ever and more fun (although i like the condi variant myself)

A group of P/D thieves would most likely lose to a group made out of any possible composition, because P/D does not really scale into teamfights. PU mesmers are team fight gods compared to a P/D condi thief. Just to give you something to measure it.

A p/d condi thief that chases you is harmless, he has no way to apply pressure while chasing. The best way to give a P/D condi thief the middle finger is to just run away. That guy went into WvW with his super awesome 1v1 spec and now you have the kitteniness to give zero kittens about it.

if i play p/d condi and i catch the backline memser/necro/ranger/ele 90% i can down them in 1 burst. dont forget they wont have full hp while i have full burst. sometime the ele can run away to his group and cleanse. but after i burst i have 36 seconds with almost nothing just pewpewpew

lol that is true but it way more fun to kill them or just troll them for bit like capping camps or sentries while they are powerless to stop you then just laugh in ther face oh the joy.

you got to be kidding… with 3k armor and 20k health with many ways to cleanse conditions i hardly die but hardly can contribute to the group as other power thief

90% of the time I still play glass double dagger.
However; every now and then I get an itch for P/D condi just for a change of pace.

I think a lot of players migrated to p/d condi for a couple a reasons-
ferocity changes
condi meta shift
durability

Glass d/d burst was all you saw around release; then shifted towards pistol whip for example.
Times change and the meta shifts.

I’ve been running Around 60/40 D/D P/D conditions recently because:

A) I like killing people.
B) I don’t like to die.

Weird huh?

Best classes to kill on this are PU mes, minion mancers, rangers, ham bows, turret monkeys. Pretty much what everyone else hates or is running themselves.

I have seen a LOT of WvW builds coming into spvp in the past two weeks including heaps of spvp useless p/d players…. Did I miss something? Are there horrible match ups lately?

P/D is a WvW build mainly, cause you have food buffs, and more stats trough armor which increase the power of this spec.

It’s also imho the only specc that can reliably allow the thief to fight more than one opponent.

In PvP however, you do not have access to foodbuffs and your stats are way lower, this does hinder this specc quite a lot, cause you cannot burn down targets as fast as you can in WvW .

Also, a build that relies heavy on stealth is not good in an enviroment that requires you to cap and hold points.

In PvP you will see nearly no P/D builds unless you play really lowranked or hotjoin.
