P/P In events?
Well, if you have a decent crit rate you could buy a sigil of fire, that has a large AoE for tagging, other than that, go shortbow?
the answer is you don’t go p/p on events. You have a better luck going sword, SB, or throw your daggers around
If you are using P/P main, then unfortunately you need a weapon swap for your AoE. I’ve used both shortbow with the fire sigil and sword/pistol, which works okay but doesn’t hold a candle to the shortbow.
On champion and hardtarget events p/p is great it drops 5 stacks of vul on the target though they are not long it fills any gap in lack of vul debuff. Other players get the boost you dont lose anything and contribute. Infact you are causing more damage then any other class when there are more then 10 people working the champion/boss.
Haven’t really played P/P in ages, so correct me if I’m wrong, but I thin P/P for single target and SB for aoe is a pretty solid choice for a PVE build. They synergize really well and are both rather safe weapons.
P/P is technically better than SB for single target, but single target should be a rarity in open-world PvE. If you’re fighting 1 mob your best option is to pull more mobs and use AEs, not devise some single target solution. Dungeons are a different matter, of course.
That said, for soloing champions out in the world P/P may be the way to go.
P/P single target = best
Shortbow aoe = best
Really simpel
Alts: Warrior, Necromancer, Mesmer, Elementalist (bunker)
I’m using a Shortbow with Superior Fire Sigil for groups of mobs, which is the best sustained aoe dmg I know of. As secondardy I went with D/P for quite some time, because I can tank most Veterans this way. My plan is to try P/P instead though, because it should have higher DPS than D/P and I can still somewhat tank (or kite) Vets. I might actually be wrong about the higher dmg tho, because Dagger skill 1 owns so much, we will see^^
Edit after testing out 2 lv 80 exotic pistols: staying with D/P cause DPS is a joke ;/

Dagger #1 is substantially weaker than sword #1 against >1 target, they’re almost identical against a single target.
I just gave up on P/P… its damage is like… non-existent…
