So I’ve only learned just now that they removed ricochet from P/P weapon set up. So now they wanted to make arrows ricochet, the only one that they can ricochet. To quote Jon oh Jon Peters

Ricochet was a mix of too hard to balance, too much RNG, and reduced the purity of pistol.

Ricochets reduces the purity of pistols yet ricocheting arrows do not reduce the purity of arrows. THAT’S THE kittenING COOL THING ABOUT DUAL PISTOLS MANG!

He was talking about “purity” in the sense of how the weapons were designed to work in GW2. P/P was intended to specialize as a single-target set. His statement made some degree of logical sense, but was still wrong-headed, which isn’t at all uncommon for him. Some form of AoE is pretty much required for a set to be at all viable, or fun, in PvE especially.

P/P should be one of the funnest weapon sets available but as it stands it’s just bland and boring. I don’t think ricochet made it that much better but at least we got a range buff with it. I take pp in PvP with dd just for finishing off and kiting but it’s still crap and with the build changes I rarely get a chance to use them. Thief is either a one hit wonder or fodder for something else.

Ricochet was always kind of a weird thing, all be it fun. As far as PvE goes, I always got a little frustrated when a bullet would ricochet to a nearby neutral mob and aggro it. I do agree that there should be some sort of AOE option for pistol though. Perhaps a trait where pistol bullets have a chance to explode on impact damaging foes near your target. I don’t think it’d go too much against ‘purity of pistol’. And as long as the blast radius isn’t too insane, you’d still maintain decent aoe like ricochet used to offer without a bullet randomly traveling somewhere you don’t want it to.
