What do you guys think about Pistol/Pistol in WvWvW/Dungeons?

I like it so far but my thief is only at level 25. I know it will never reach the damage a d/d Thief can do but that does not matter. This game isn’t all about dealing as much damage as possible (luckily it isn’t).

I like to fullfill a DPS role as P/P ‘Gungslinger’ Thief.

I recently (yesterday) tried out a pistol/pistol build for dungeons and it worked great. In a pug it is actually better, because you will most likely be at ranged anyways during tough bosses. I then tried it out in WvW. The damage is nice, but it has issues with facing more than 1 person, simply because it is so squishy, and there’s no evades on your weapons. Just pay attention to buffs so you don’t kill yourself through retaliation or projectile reflects.

Hmm, that sounds quite great. I am a solo’er when it comes to WvWvW. I mainly focus on capping camps and killing Guards/dolyaks. I think if I play a long time with it I can find the most optimal way to fight 2 or more enemies. Thanks for the comment!

P/P is great for dungeons, particularly if you’re learning a new dungeon or if you’re anywhere that a pure dps race doesn’t make or break success, especially since they’ve buffed ricochet.

Personally, I often run 0/30/0/15/25 in dungeons since it works both for a pistol build or a sword build if you swap a few traits around. If I run pistols, this is what it looks like:

If I want to switch to using a sword for higher dps or to bring different utility (stuns, boon strip, etc.), then I use this:

Since so much of the damage comes from 25 in Trickery, you want to pace your unloads so that you don’t recast until your ini just ticks back to full or is 1 short of that unless you’re just spamming unload to heal from Signet of Malice.

There are dungeon runners who would disagree with you on that. Luckily, you are not a Guardian, Warrior or Mesmer, and so those groups will leave us thieves alone anyways.

I’m going to second Dahkeus’s sentiments on this one, even though I’m kind of anti-P/P. That bleed-focused #1 skill in an otherwise bleedless set is admittedly a turnoff. Still, melee is a dangerous place to be in a dungeon you’ve never seen before and shortbow just isn’t there in terms of raw, single-target damage. That doesn’t leave you much choice. I may be anti-P/P, but I’m pro-not-dying.

P/P is hard to find a spot for. I’ve only found one use for it when it was better than another setup, and that was when using a condition thief against Mai.

I don’t have opinions. I only have facts I can’t adequately prove.

If you’re going to be stuck at range anyways, it’s acceptable. But I have to point out that the fastest way to clear most bosses involves getting right in their face and dodging effectively.

Mixing insults with your post is like pooping in a salad.
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.
