So pistol main hand #2 will now produce an immobilize. Is there anything else that will be incorporated in #2 or just the immobilize? I am perfectly fine with this new immobilize, just makes my build a whole lot better.
So instead of making and giving P/X a way of travel and mobility, we got a gap closer “in a sense”. And a way to stop our opponents mobility instead.

It’s really not a great change. It’s better than nothing I suppose but the real problem with P/P is that Unload takes the role that Vital Shot should have and mucks up Initiative management for the whole set, leaving every other skill in a near-useless state.

It’s not a great change, but its a step in the right direction at least. Body shot just got promoted from “kitten I hit 2, I wasted init AND I look like a scrub” to tactically viable – you can prevent players from getting to a cap point, lock them down for another players burst (HB’s, Anyone?) or lock them down for a nigh guarantee’d CnD (Assuming the aftercast isn’t awful).
Mmh, might be useful to prevent guys from reaching doors in WvW. Was sick of switching to SB and having to waste my 2 stealths utilities to immobilize them, whereas Infiltrator Strike is unreliable in these occasions.
This could give the thief access to a good control build with cripple, immobilize, daze, chill, and torment
It might prove to be semi-ok for anyone running caltrops. Immobilize them in the caltrops, until you run out of init, or they cleanse the root.
I myself am really looking forward to the change, I will be working on a Chill, and fear build soon. So once the perplex nerf arrives, i’ll already have a back up.
It sounds somewhat broken in a group setting though since it can be spammed. I have a lot of trouble seeing how this is even a thing.

Cripple is annoying, but it doesn’t shut you down anywhere near as hard as a well timed immobilize and that’s if it can’t be spammed. Even on a one second duration, I see this being over the top if done poorly.
S/X #2 applies Immobilized, has a range of 600 and can be spammed. So, there is already something similar in the game :|
My guess is that it’ll be too strong against classes that don’t have decent mobility, and too weak against classes that can just shrug it off (warriors with 98% immob reduction for example).
Still I look forward to trying it, but I still think the vuln stacking should be move to unload and replaced with something else. Maybe make body shot cause immob and be a blast finisher and call it a day.

I would wish the same for unload. Slightly like the rangers rapid fire shot or what ever the channeled ability is that applies vulnerability. That would be a lot more convenient, and useful.

The only way to actually spam that ability is to constantly blink back and forth, which can be very wasteful of initiative and won’t really administer much damage. Not to mention they can possibly blink away or break the immobilize. The only scenario I see this being useful is if you want to keep someone completely locked in place while your teammates bash them, but then you might as well just run s/p and pistol whip the guy (provided there’s no stability).
I think giving it a cripple would be better than an immobilize though, although that would possibly make it redundant with dagger #4.
p/x till now is being used by conditions spec as p/d and with the torment condition with shadow strike and skale venom i dont think immobilized is good for this setup as torment is good only when they are moving else ppl will stop using torment with this build
i think thief need more self movement ability and not movement control so immobilize is good when you can burst so like in s/p set up using skill 2 and 3 than 2 again.
with p/p there is no point to use immobilize and vulnerability is better as using 2 twice and than 3 unload to do 20% more dmg . i can think maybe chill is better to slow down 66% and slower cd on skills

you can easily counter the -98% with +70% from koi cake and 30 in DA (yes it’s additive)
It needs to be 2s base. 1s is too little to make p/p effective.
If I were anet I would have just turned it into a blast finisher or a pulsing blind that the veteran scouts use. Although I guess pistol 5 offhand already does that.

Actually you should pay attention to the changing meta. Cripple applications are problematic coming from ranged sources. Ranged conditions are getting nerfed.
Most recent one explained by the devs is Unsteady Ground. All the eles seem to think its an awesome change, its a massive CC nerf.

Just so as to not get this thread locked as well…those notes could be WAY off base. They obviously are not complete and its best you wait until at least the 11th to get a little more info of what’s coming on the 15th

yeah i saw those too, since there was no pistol 2 info i thought there might be new ones.
With that in mind im not convince they will give 2 an immob. I personally think it will be freaking awesome.
The initiative cost will go back up to 4. I think it will be ok change and since it is only 1 second base it will be expensive to spam.
If you don’t have any condition duration anyone running -40 condition duration will hardly notice it. You could spec 100% duration and get it to 2 seconds and then it would be really effective.
Immobilize is suppose to stack duration now with a max of 5 stacks(according to the leak) now it overlaps and doesn’t actually stack duration. You just have to give up condition damage for duration and bit extra to get to 100%.
I don’t know if it can be abused or if you would even want to with the cost it has ok change imo just a bit more variety in P/X.

In the “leaked” notes for next week there isn’t any paragraph about P/X.
That “Leaked” was an old/outdated version. Dev also said that they have a couple prototypes. So this one is just one of those. We don’t know what the final version will be.
So looks like it was true. Body shot #2 P/X skill causes an immobilize for 1.25 of a second for 4 initiative. Could be useful with high condition duration. I’m not giving up on the skill. I like it. We still got our gap closer. It’s just that instead of us closing the gap and moving towards them, they will be stuck in place.

The immobilize is really crappy. Slow bolo projectile that is thrown at your target, which can easily be dodged. And When you’re chasing a target they are more than likely always out of range. I’m doubting the 900 range skill tip. I would believe 600 range
