Fellow thieves. I would like your help… I currently got to level 80 and I would like some help… While I’m on WvW i see many thieves being on Perma Hide. They use Shadow Refuge after 4-10 secs again. Could someone please provide me with info on how’s that possible? I mean even traited the CD doesn’t fit…. If there’s any possible built i would be pleased to view it.
Or even if someone could provle me with a proper backstab build i would be pleased….!
Its not possible to be hidden forever and be in combat.
Well… I’m just describing what i just saw a few mins ago

Probably culling.
In Deadly Arts, there is a trait called Improvisation that resets all skills of one type. If someone used Shadow Refuge twice like that on a short cooldown, it was likely due to this trait. It’s unreliable and a gamble though to use the trait. He just got lucky.
It’s called waiting a split second before coming out of stealth and using cloak and dagger again, you are only seen for maybe half a sec if that. I’ve done it before, it’s easy in big groups. With the 2 refund initiative trait when stealthing you can do this for days.
You only get the revealed debuff if you damage someone while stealthed.
Also, putting down a smoke field with pistol and heart striking through it 3x will net you stacked stealth duration, so will standing in shadow refuge.
There are a couple ways to “perma stealth” but the smoke field way is actually 100% perma, you will not come out of stealth nor run out of initiative if you trait for it.

Even so, the smoke ring reveals your position, so it’s still not perfect-stealth.
And its not like your going to kill anyone with it.

how can you keep getting to CnD stealth as you have to hit someone?

If someone actually stands there and lets you kill them 1 CnD at a time every 3 seconds, they probably deserve to die.
I guess everyone missed the part where I said “big groups”
xrisomilia.5769:how can you keep getting to CnD stealth as you have to hit someone?
As Rukia said. As long as you don’t hit someone while stealthed, it won’t trigger revealed. If you let stealth just wear off, you can enter stealth again, immediately, or while you are currently stealthed, you can add stealth. It’s like a boon that stacks with duration. As long as you don’t trigger Revealed, you can continue to stack steatlh.
I’m not sure that if it’s that the damge from CnD is ignored, or it’s just a timing thing. I THINK since CnD has a animation/cast time you can theoretically start your ability and time it such that it lands just as your stealth buff wears off. Then, CnD doesn’t land until you are technically out of stealth.
Now, add the culling issue to this and it can become annoying.
I need to ask … what is this “Culling issue”? My dictionary says on “culling”:
1. To pick out from others; select.
2. To gather; collect.
3. To remove rejected members or parts from (a herd, for example).
How is this related to perma-stealth?
3) objects are removed from the collection of objects to be rendered.
Have you noticed how you can run into the trading post in LA and it’s empty/ At first, player characters appear after a few seconds.
PC’s are complex objects to render, composed of hundreds, or maybe thousands, of small surfaces to create the illusion of rounded biological forms, a lot of work to draw. They also have a lot of variety – the creation screen and the armor allows for each character to be unique – relatively few shared resources means they all have to be loaded, basic data over the internet and expanded with graphical details over the PCI bus to the graphics hardware. All this the moment they come into view – and since they’re packed (before the traders or in a zerg) a lot of data has to be processed in a short time.
To prevent stuttering (or even freezing) you can delay rendering a few seconds and load the data in the the background.
This, I think, is what is referred to as culling. The mechanism used to delay rendering of pc’s may be the cause of un-stealthed character becoming visible only after a delay. It may be less trivial to fix while still preventing stuttering or freezing with large groups.
Here is my build its made to stealth you dont mind the dual p/p in the title its just what I play with there is also some gameplay that you can go take a look at to see how this build works http://youtu.be/_AHt_pkcinE
