So I started building a Thief for the purpose of being a really good scout. The perma stealth build of SS and CS seemed to be a very nice maneuver. Here are the things I noticed:
You had to stop and run these skill chains occasionally to keep it going
You could not attack or it would break stealth
There were some other actions you could not do without stealth
If you were close enough to someone doing a melee attach or in an AoE damage area it would break stealth

It would seem to me that if stealth broke on all action, or at least added a rez/action bar then all you have is a scout, and a perma stealth thief would not be OP. I mean, if you are any other class and you break a stealth thief’s stealth, then you can and likely would kill that thief.

Devs: any chance on bringing back perma stealth/stealth stacking above 5 or adding an ability to stealth for longer periods?

The changes to stealth seem valid and with the fix on Shadow Refuge there is no need to stack it above five. If you were to be attacked while in stealth it would maintain, it’s your auto attacks or mid flight projectiles that break stealth. At any rate there is no need to stealth longer than 12s because that is ample time to either escape or ambush.

I would agree that 12s is enough to ambush, but if you move (to escape) then you are revealed. A thief would be easily killed with the medium armor class if they stayed in one spot for long. I think with the armor level, stealth while moving would be better balance and give the game (PvX and WvW) a scout class.

If you stay in the refuge until the animation ends you can safely leave the area while remaining stealthed! ^.^

Additionally, while stealthed, you can chain other stealthing skills to prolong it even further…you just have to stagger them so it doesn’t go over the cap. You can stay stealthed for longer than the cap, basically.

And the final fun trick, while not permastealth per se, is to use cloak and dagger just after your stealth wears off, to flicker out and back into stealth. You can keep doing that as long as you have initiative and a target.

Why grind dungeons? Only relevant content…
Why? Gives needed gear…
Why do you need this gear? To do dungeons… duh.

Unless something changed in the last patch, damage doesn’t break stealth. It just damages, like you’d expect.
