Zafrece- perm stealth build-

We were told that there would be no perm stealth in gw2, and it should be used for a tactical mechanic.
We friends, were told wrong.

AOE perm stealth-
The build and the idea alone is simplistic in nature yet effective. Short bow Cluster bomb is a blast finisher, smoke+ blast = aoe stealth. Shadows refuge on the ground at desired area you wish to perm stealth.Once the bubble is gone place a smoke screen on the ground, aim down and fire cluster bomb into it 6 times. You now have roughly 20 seconds of aoe stealth. The recharge of smoke screen is 24 seconds and should come up on cool down before you run out of stealth, repeat this when the cool down comes up. If you are having a hard time timing it for feel free to throw in blinding powder to make it easier.

Using perm stealth in combat-

You may or may not know that laying fields does not break stealth, such as choking gas and caltrops. Stack condition damage and poison or bleed duration runes to make choking gas/caltrops more effective. When you lay down shadows refuge or use the smoke screen combo you are now free to lay down fields. Specing into shadow you should pick up “Cloaked in Shadow” causing aoe blindness on every tick of shadows refuge. Using choking gas should easily allow you to place 1 min of poison on large groups with out being having stealth broken. Due to lotus poison you also stack large amounts of aoe weakness on the enemy. While in stealth you gain might due to the “Hidden Assassin” trait, usually keeping around 18 stacks of might at all times if you remain in stealth.It would be fine it it only stopped there, but it doesn’t. =)

25 Might? or 1.5k heals a second?

Stealing from rangers allows you to grab “healing tree”. Blast finishers+water = 1.5k aoe heal, which can be done from (yes you guessed it) stealth. Fire+ blast finisher= 3 stacks of 20 second might, easily getting to 23 stacks for 20 seconds while in aoe group stealth.

Tired of Getting killed on Siege weps?

You can operate siege weps while in stealth! Simply have an engineer set you down a mortar elite and his turrets, then make both of you perm stealth.

Peskittenep sieges giving you a problem? Grab 2-3 of these perm sins and fear not, there isn’t not a problem that cant be solved by giving 100 people 25 stacks of might, 1 min of stealth, 1 min swiftness, and retaliation! The list goes on but I think you get the idea. =)

The Might only stacks to 12 by the way for the Trait you mentioned. AOE only affects 5 people, so you can’t affect 100 people, and it’s not perma-stealth. It’s spending 30 seconds setting up a stealth where you could be off doing something better. Stealth only stacks to 25 seconds max, no 1 minute stuff like you said, same as Might only stacks to 25. Retaliation not sure. Swiftness has no cap it seems and my warrior friend has had 5 minutes of swiftness as he uses the runes.

The might i mistakenly had increase might duration runes on making it hit 18. 20 thieves to keep 100 people in stealth isn’t bad. Perma means you can keep it up permanently, which it does.With more and more contributing to the smoke finisher it takes less time to set up. You can easily get to 25 might as i said by blasting into fire finishers. Retaliation i got to around 20, assumably it could go higher if i had more contributing to the finisher. Stealth i was able to hit 27 seconds, again assumably higher with more contributing.

27 seconds isn’t permanent, and this sounds more like a team of thieves very carefully coordinating their abilities, which is a completely different animal. That is not the same thing as stealth in a lot of other games where it does not fade and is unlikely to break until the individual thief or assassin strikes.

It makes it perm bc it can stay in stealth while stealth cool downs come back up, and you can use them while still in stealth from the previous skills. keeping you in stealth the whole time.

Not sure I have understood this. Is he saying you can stay in stealth 100% of the time, but to do so you spend a whole lot of time just keeping your stealth going?

If so then, surely this is only of interest as a curiosity? Even if you do permastealth this way, you’re not actually likely to achieve much by way of PvP goals with it right? Anyone devoying 100% of their time to actually fighting witha usual level of stealth would do better I would think.

This is awesome. Not very effective or easy to use, but awesome nonetheless. Nice work!

First of all I want to say that this is NOT a personal attack on the OP

This seems awfully cheap to me. In a community where people are already crying “THIEF OP!!!!!” You’re just making us all look bad. Perhaps if you spent the time learning to play your job you wouldn’t have to rely on gimmicks to LOOK like you’re a kitten. And I don’t even want to hear how, “They gave us the skills and aren’t blocking us from using them that way”. It’s cheap and only serves to mask your lack of skill with the job. I realize I’m not gonna change you’re opinion and you’re going to play the way you want, which is your right you payed for the game just like I did. just sharing my opinion.

P.S. to those of of you out there running this build, I’d like to thank you in advance for bringing the nerf bat down on us again.

Yeah I noticed that but this is a real build that works and is being used, I’ve seen a LOT of spawn camping in sPVP the last few days with this

@ black goat, I didn’t make this build for lack of being able to play, i simply enjoy pushing the limits of games to their max. To every one else being griefed by my build, i’m sorry if my invention turns into your frustration.

To counter it- when they are using the blast finisher simply stand in the explosion. this causes them to hit you while in stealth making them trigger the 3 second cant restealth.
When in shadows refuge if you run out of the circle early on they lose all stacked stealth, place large aoe pressure on the bubble and it should kill/force them out.

This thing has been discovered and posted back during BWEs.
It’s not rocket science anyways, it just take knowing your combo fields and finishers.
I actually think any thief that’s decent knows this as any decent thief knows what his finishers do.

Not everybody played during beta.

This tactic takes ~10 seconds of building stealth to be cloaked for the next 20 seconds. I wouldn’t call this effective, unless you play it with your friend, who also can spam blast finisher on smoke screen. It has very occasional use, because most of the time you just need more firepower and active support. You can’t capture nor defend bases in stealth.
Still, +1 for bringing it to attention.

Not new. Been using this for a while to troll stealth a friend and myself in WvW. Very ineffective build, but fun nonetheless. Sounds like somebody just figured out what combos do.
