It is amazing how still to this day, when asked for a personal account of their adventures as an overpowered kill machine when they play their Thieves, these thief-complainers have nothing to say…

Because, they’re too honest and have too much pride to stoop to our lowly level and use something so cheap, cheesy, dirty, OP, and challenge-less that it would tarnish their crystal clear morals – it just disgusts them to even think about it.
Well that’s at least one reason/theme why some don’t. I like to think that their character slots are full and yeah, aint no one gonna delete a char to try something that some whiteknight said. Or just that they just discard the advice to roll a thief and try it out because it was probably said by a whiteknight.

I would just higher again the revealed debuff only in WvW (up to 7-8 seconds) which would only hurt those who build their char arround stealth mechanism, thus discouraging low risk “high reward” gameplay in those maps.
Ouh look at this clueless guy he wants 8 seconds reaveal debuff, i cant stop laughing.
How about we put 8 seconds cd on every skill use on all other classess k tnx bye.
My unbiased opinion:
I main a guard, and stealth always irritated me. Whenever a thief would stealth and run, I’d call cheese. How irritating, right?
Two days ago I made a thief, and I’ve already realized how essential stealth is. Thieves are trading a lot to have the ability to stealth: they are a melee class with low health, low armor, and abysmal condi clear. Whereas rangers and guardians can go invincible for a few seconds to take the pressure off, thieves have stealth (but can die quite easily in stealth). Most of their weapon sets are useless in the current meta, so evades cant make up for it (I’m looking at sw/d).
If they are running from you and are about to die, either: (1) you outnumber them, in which case, who wouldn’t run?; and (2) they can’t kill you in a 1v1, but then why should you be able to kill a thief 100%? Shouldn’t it be 50% in a balanced game? They are a zerker class, after all. Running=draw=balanced.
Add to that: no thieves use speed/traveler runes, which means if they want to keep up their famous mobility in or out of stealth, they need to be spending initiative, dodges, or utility cooldowns. Those all need to be balanced to maintain mobility but also be ready for a fight.
So coming from an entirely different class and just playing thief for 2 days, I have to say: stop complaining about stealth. It’s not cheese.
I LOVE finding new thief players. Nothing makes me more giddy then finding a player who just started on their thief thinking they are going to PWNNOOBSOMGBBQSAUCE
After a good beating i tend to then teach them how to play thief, and they all say the exact same thing:
“This is so hard”
i just had exactly same experience… a guildmate decided to play a thief, i tried to teach him some things and at the end he said something like this: wow, people say engis and eles are hard to play… but omg thieves are impossible… how can one even play this?
made me smile a bit xD
i think thieves are nasty in good hands but that’s the point, you need to be good player to make thief work; you don’t need to be amazing to be effective on warrior or ele tho :/
i like it that way, i enjoy class having high skill cap however i really wish people would try out the class vs decent opponents before spamming QQ about thieves everywhere
[Teef] guild :>
I wonder what the guys that complain about thief will say after they got owned by “one shot” fresh air ele in 2 seconds … :trollhaton:

not to mention eviscerate wars >.< getting hit for 13k is no joke!

Nah, that’s just a band-aid fix for a problematic build xD;
i had something else in mind, like if u get revealed multiple time in a fix period of time (let’s say 20 seconds) the revelaed debuff grows each time u get revealed;
that could if anything leave some conterplay to those cheesy builds that abuse the hell out of stealth mechanism, but of course some1 also think that revealed debuff should disappear and have stealth on demand ¯\(®-®)/¯.

Point is, no one specs for max evasion AND max stealth. (if they do, they have no damage) Stealth is no invulnerability, what’s stopping you from spamming your AA where the thief disappeared? If your AA chain continues or an air/fire sigil procs, you know you hit them. Thieves are the weakest defensive class in the game, the only things we have to make up for this are stealth, evasion and shadowsteps. It’s not hard to move out of the way of Cloak and Dagger or interrupt the Heartseeker in Black Powder. You’re just blinded by the imagined “cheese” of stealth that you forget all about the counterplay that exists.

I have no problem with thief in PvP, actualy when I see 1 alone I know I won’t have any difficult to force him into stealth away from me, both call for reinforcement or go to another point;
this does not work on WvW, becuse they got all the time they want since there is no point cap (this is zerg job) and can kit all the way arround untill u make a mistake and turn into a bag 8D, not that I soloroam anymore, so it’s not my problem anyway.
lastly, I used to soloroam with condi thief once, and only got facerolled when I met a PU mesmer and had to fall back, but had so much fun stomping all the others who could barely touch me at all.
Well the thing bout wvw is, as i have said before, that it was never designed to be balanced for 1v1 or small scale fights. Even if certain classes can escape very easily even from a huge zerk its not like they can kill you in the zerk then run away unhatched. Now if you insist on chasing down other players in 1 v 1 scenarios its very much your right to be, but the fact is WvW was designed for people to be able to win with minimal combat, so as to avoid zerk clashes 24/7, and so you can’t expect anet to balance 1v1 for you in wvw or even small scale fights, nor do you have the right to complain about something like that at all. Now look at spvp that is very much balanced for small scale combat. Although not perfect I have never seen much complains about thieves there, not since Sept 2013. So maybe just maybe its not the class fault but your efforts to play a specific game mode in a way that was not designed for and is not actively supported by Anet. Just saying.
