They seriously need love like FS had, they are both lower damage then the autoattack chains and both need serious work.

I eventually resigned myself and dropped my beloved set of pistols, the way the different classes are evolving it is not possible anymore to use those without putting oneself at an abysmal disadvantage :’(

While I wouldn’t necessarily complain about Unload getting a buff, the fact that P/P fails so hard is largely due to how much stronger Unload already is than Vital Shot.

Having an autoattack that is substantially weaker than other skill(s) does not work well with the Thief’s mechanics because the inequality throws your resource management out of whack by requiring you to starve yourself just trying to maintain reasonable DPS. This in turn removes your ability to apply proper tactics to your usage of the set.

What really needs to happen with P/P is that Vital Shot needs to be reworked to where it provides good DPS for both burst and condition builds. It needs to both fire faster and do a higher percentage of its damage as direct damage rather than bleed damage.

Currently it’s mediocre with condition builds and bad with burst builds, this is the main reason why P/D is a little weak but still playable while P/P is downright bad.

Both of these skills are victims of balancing around initiative. Unload was really strong back in the day but also meant that P/P thieves just spammed unload till you died. Pistol whip was buffed, then nerfed when S/P pistol whip builds just stun-locked people to death.

PW’s a victim of them not wanting to nerf quickness.

Unload AND PW were victims of quickness.

They were just OP with old quickness.
