It sure was a good fight, maybe the editing could be better but still serves the purpose
Do you mind sharing your wvw build with us with the armors as well, look like you found a good balance with that hp pool.
+1 thanks for the video again

Yea, my editing skills definitely need some work, hopefully it will come with practice.
My build consists of all berserker trinkets and weapons. 3 berserker armour pieces 2 assassin pieces and a valk coat. If your still interested in the finer details, I can write up the full build tomorrow.
And thank you for your positive feed back

I dont think fighting PU mesmer is hard,it is just longish, shadows embrace pretty much cancel them out.
I thou you were a Pistol Thief…
Is this another build of yours?

Iv played pretty much every thief build, I like to mix it up a bit, so I don’t get sucked in to playing one build forever, and this build is the flavor of the month for me
Our guild has only recently begun making videos so all the other builds iv run in the past were never caught on camera.

Just curious any experience against a s/p + sc/t PU mesmer?

Yes, a great deal as I have experimented with that build myself. Similar fight to the one in the video, however you need to eliminate the duellists ASAP. The bleeds they stack if the mesmer is able to summon more than 1 is overwhelming.
Or just run p/d condition and cheese all over the mesmer until they’re dead. A good old fashion cheese vs cheese (bring crackers) :P
Both tactics work just fine.

Yeah P/D or even D/D won’t work if the mesmer uses it’s clones as a shield and destroying the phantasmal duellist is only one direct point of condition application. Mostly you have to worry about the random degen that accumulates constantly as u fight the mesmer (even if you have condi removal). Generally s/p + sc/t is better combination than staff + s/t or sc/t. With all this in mind, they still will remain roamers and nothing more.

I think I have to disagree with you there in terms of p/d. A condition condi p/d thief is a very good counter to PU mesmers, the ability to strip boons on steal essentially nullifies their PU. Add the perma stealth you gain from the illusions with Cnd, and you essentially get a combination that can quite easily deal with condi PU mesmers. The constant access to stealth allows you to maneuver yourself around the fight, thus you avoid hitting the illusions with sneak attack.
Im not saying that you can never lose as a p/d condi thief vs a PU mesmer, but if played correctly, you can win quite easily.
But again it depends on the mesmer.
Thats my experience anyway.
Side Note: A power thief however will always fight an uphill battle against a well played PU mes. The perma protection is a nightmare.

Disagree with you too, considering how I never typed what kind of PU spec I would actually utilize. You maybe think it’s the general PU spec, but if you use the right heal utility, normal utility and trait you have an advantage over said p/d thief. Plus the mesmer will hide inside the clones thus using them as a shield if the thief tries to sneak attack. If they blow up the clones, they will take some condi but nothing major. Either way, it can end up as a truce between both the thief and mesmer. It also, does not matter if the thief stripes the boons from the mesmer at all. They are just mostly there to deal with physical damage or constant CC threat.
I won’t type how the mesmer will try to turn the fight into it’s favour and beat the p/d. Why give away tips that anyone can find out for themselves.

You raise good points, but this sort of debate could go on forever, and it really comes down to the player playing the class. A traited healing mantra which I believe you are referring too, (I think) is capable of curing condi’s and thus may give the mesmer a bit more of a chance.
But usually for me when I play the cheese full condition dire p/d, I rarely lose to PU mesmers. And on the extreme rare occasions that I do, its usually due to an error on my part combined with a well played mesmer. Iv always attributed that to the p/d condi dire spec being unbalanced and a good counter to PU mesmers. But then again iv clocked 1500hrs on thief and 900 hrs on a PU mesmer. So I know all the tricks of both classes, which I suppose does give me an edge? If it helps, I could upload a video on how to kill mesmers using the condi p/d cheese? (let me know, I need something to do to take up my time atm haha)
I just assumed that people really aren’t interested in seeing an unbalanced spec destroying people. Thus why my future video’s would consist of me playing power based specs.
At the moment iv settled on a power/sustained dps d/p p/d set which im really enjoying.
Anyway, each to their own, thats just my take on it :P
