It’s time for me to put that berserker set away.
Had lots of fun kills with it but, 10-12k health is a pain in the kitten
So, do you recommend using Power/Vit/Toughness on a thief?.

It works perfectly on my warrior and also on a guardian.
I know I’ll have to increase my precision through traits and maybe jewels.

Talking WvW here.

I use Power/Vit/Toughness, it works great for PvE and dungeons.

I’ d rather go for a few valkyrie pieces instead (power/vit/crit dmg). Thief doesn’t need as much defence as other classes (stat-wise) to stay alive.

Regardless, I have come to a realization that it is crucial to have some crit and some crit damage. 20-50% crit dmg is a must for thieves. Sure you can get that from traits but it’s definitely needed. About 20-40% crit is about right too. If you can achieve some those stats via traits and maybe a few gems then go bananas on Power/Vit/Tough. I was trying to come up with a decent Cleric/Valkyrie combination and going 30 into CS. That gives you 18% crit and 30% crit dmg. I go Hidden Killer in the CS tree for 100% crits with backstab. If you go a stealth build + healing power you can give yourself some health back during those invis times but I think you’re better off with Signet of Malice for health regen.

PvP wise, the only thing that worked for me was power/precision and crit damage.
As for accessories I went for power/vit/crit damage to balance the stats which seems to work(the extra vit) I also think I could have gone for toughness too.

Anything else I tried, had low dps and no kills(or it was a lot time consuming to get rewarded for your attempt to kill).

If you play with a team though, the path you are thinking would work great if you like more of a support style. But why would a thief want to support when you got guardians around for example? That’s where things get a little complicated in this game.

All of my gear is Power/Vitality/Toughness as a thief besides my chest which is Power/Crit/Crit damage.

Only difference I have to note is I use sword/dagger now seeing as I don’t focus on conditions + the extra shadowstep is more beneficial to my play style, however the daggers are equally efficient with the same build.

My main set is Power/Toughness/Vitality which is supplemented by Berserker’s Accessories.

This gives me a nice balance of survivability and damage for both WvW and PvE.

Power also has the beneficial side-effect that it increases all your damage, including critical hits. That’s why it’s the best DPS stat to stack.
