if you go full pref that is okay, if you go full feroc thats not okay.

PRECSION
reason being will get almost no crits. even at base dmg crits do 150% dmg. So if you are getting crits with 1.8k power its more like hitting at 3.6k power then factor in the defense of your opponent.

FEROCITY
If you go full ferocity, you will most likely never hit a crit in a battle. but if you did hit a crit it will be explosive, but even then it wouldn’t be that much more then one from maxing precision, because the average damage would average out and probably be less then a full precision build. also relying on rng is no bueno.

The key is balance. for thieves you can sit on 30% crit chance and the max out ferocity. reason being you can grab fury via traits or runes which will give you 50% chance for crit. if your not going to go for fury, i like to stay around 44-56% crit chance. this means you will theoretically hit a crit every 2 attacks.

also ferocity has been getting less popular because of the nerf. it still is very popular to get a full gc build but a lot of ppl have been switching to the wondrous condi meta

In terms of DPS Power > Precision > Ferocity.

But that’s assuming there are no traits like Hidden Killer that devalue Precision and emphasize Ferocity.

If you are running something like a Valkyrie + Hidden Killer build Ferocity can be a good choice. But nothing ever comes close to trumping Power.

I think Power may even add more Critical Strike damage than Ferocity.

Ok… At level 70 I am still experimenting with a condi built using Carrion armor. Is it OK to use berserker runes or should I stick with runes that have condition in the mix. Still a little confuse with the precision and ferocity or is it irrelevant with a condi build?

pve condi is useless until they fix the system. Pvp/wvw condi is IMO the easiest to play for thieves at least. I am not down sizing condi thieves but compared to the other play styles its probably the easiest to get use to. That being said the best condi runes for thieves IMO are krait. has increased bleeding condi dmg and also with bask venom yo get poison torment bleed every bask venom.

pve you really want power builds. any will do IMO they rank like this:

best-
1:s/p or d/d
2: d/p
3: s/d
4: SB
5: p/p
^ALL POWER

Condi does work in pve buti in groups its useless and solo its very boring to kite nd wait for your enemy to bleed out from d.o.t’s

yea i mean if you want go ahead and play condi in pve but if you want to be effective power is the way to go lol the s/p pistol whip evade is great the d/d backstab is great and the black powder from pistol off hand comes in handy, only mobs i know of that are resistant to blind are dredge.

In general, you’ll want to go power > precision > ferocity. However, as the thief has both precision and ferocity in the same trait line…

I don’t have opinions. I only have facts I can’t adequately prove.

With Berserker gear every point in Power nets twice as much effect as every point in Ferocity. With Soldier’s the ratio is favoring Power even more, at 4:1. Precision versus Ferocity is less pronounced, with about 3:2 for Berserker, 3:1 for Soldier’s and 1:1 for Knight’s. There’s also a range of on-crit effects that would favor Precision over Ferocity to keep an eye on.
