What are you talking about. You get access to pulmonary strike by simply interrupting a foe thanks to Impact disruption, that’s where the issue is. Fist Flurry is perfectly fine as it is. Impact disruption paired with how powerful pulmonary impact is is super toxic.
1600 power undodgable ability by just spammin 4 in a game where interrupting is as easy as in this one is not balanced.

He is talking about pulmonary impact from the trait not the one used after fist flurry…

dunno about you but i can interupt a ranger non stop but i dont even tickle his balls by just using headshots.
the skill isnt that strong the skill looks strong when one interupts u and then (just making up something) steals > cleave or hide > steals > backstab > impact goes off.
but every skill looks strong when u trigger it with other skills out there in a flash of a second.
A 5sec ICD across all game modes would be fine by me. I never much cared for the trait. Only use it out of necessity because other thieves do.

I’m sorry but im doing 3-5k for basically spamming 4 while dodging. They are not even playing bad, but they are getting punished by playing the game, this skill is too strong. There’s a reason it was nerfed in pvp, anet just doesnt care about wvw.

I agree that PI needs a nerf, but only if we get some love in other areas. I kind of think that the daze shot should use the ammo system and a small ICD on PI. I’d also vote for some love to /D for extra build paths to compensate

mr op, as a thief main and someone that knows the Kanye thief build Bootsbadbuilds had put up, i can tell you simply this…when fists of fury hit you, it chains to the “Bic slap”…dont be using a skill during this or maintain stability…if hes spamming headshot 4 on pistol on you, reflects/blocks/ stability to prevent the interrupts. if its choking gas, learn the threshold of 5…and learn the term (resistance is futile) as Resistance will not protect you against the interrupt however will prevent poison and condition damage…be sure to cleanse it off before 5 stacks or more, or simply move outta range of his poison.
another friendly reminder OP, if hes spamming the headshot tactic…reflects will probably murder himself because hes full glass majority of the time…and combined with lifesteal on interupt sigils or boon removal its only icing on the cake when you reflect it back at him…chances are hell use back to back headshots and may have a headshot rupted from the previous headshot you reflected back at him
Pretty much every balanced update expected this trait to be nerfed it was especially brutal when choking gas was buffed and I think the main reason it got nerfed again. I’m not entirely sure why anet choose to leave it alone without an icd.
For PI, one thing I found works when fighting a headshot spam DD is to stop attacking and dodge/evade.
Headshot uses a lot of initiative and if a D/D is skill less enough to spam it and hope for the best, then he deserves to get beat. They are the ones that will truly bail as soon as their init is up. While I am not arguing that Headshot isn’t strong (as this is really the only way to get 2+ stacks on quickly w/o using the slot utility), you will know within the first 5s if you are facing a HS spammer. If so, force out his HS’s by using any quick attacks (ones that will finish before the HS connects, thus interrupting)
If they can beat you by interrupting you even half the fight, then you as well are doing something wrong. What Class/build are you using?

This trait is completely fine where it is. It doesn’t actually change a fight all that much, it just helps line up burst. If you’re spamming pistol 4 on someone who keeps getting interrupted by pistol 4…. they deserve what they get.

You are delusional if you think this trait is fine. You seem to be mistaken, im the one abusing PI, literally not a l2p issue.
What Class/build are you using?
Im the one playing thief. While there’s counterplay to the skill, its very kittening minimal. Forcing ppl to stow cancel (which can be hard) only because of an obnoxious mechanic is toxic. The skill is nice but it deffo needs a nerf. It was nerfed in pvp and it should have been nerfed in wvw.
Why? It only hurts vs glassy speced for high dmg. This thing tickles any form of bunker or even light bunker. (I take 1-2K on my roaming d/d ele)
Also, 5 sec icd? Might as well take escapist absolution and remove pi.
The trait is fine, it just so happens it’s syncs very well with head shot and if you’re the 1 abusing it and complaining it’s too easy, go play core thief or, don’t take pi…?

You can get pul. impact with a trait when interrupting.

I’ve always felt skills that reward interrupt should not count auto attacks. Because at that point theres almost no counterplay available. Anything you do will get counted as being interrupted
A 2s ICD would probably be enough to keep it good for interrupt-oriented play, but not unbearable to opponents that lack stability. Needs to be saved for big hits/skills and you get extra mileage. It nerfs the mindless spam and it doesn’t affect top-end play where most people cancel-stow, either. 5s is pretty oppressive and not where I’d start.

To support no-interrupt AA’s a lot of traits and skills would need changes to really be fully compatible while keeping the playstyles of interrupt thief/mes intact.

No, the idea isn’t that you can’t interrupt AAs, its that you shouldn’t be rewarded for interrupting AAs. If you were on a sliver of health, it’d be great to interrupt just about anything, AAs included, or if that person was wailing on a downed ally with AAs. I just don’t think pul imp should be so easily rewarded.

If AA’ing is your opponent’s primary source of damage or optimal move at a given point in time, why shouldn’t someone who recognizes this be allowed to punish them by being rewarded for interrupting AA chains? This would also go to suggest the interrupt-style approach to gameplay could just be countered entirely by not using skills and instead pressing 1. This isn’t really interactive for anyone involved.

That was exactly how GW1 played. With how fast head shot is cast there’s really no counter play to it. It’s interactive for the person doing the interrupting, it separates the good players to this who simply spam and hope for the best. I think on interrupt effects could be buffed to compensate.
