The title already explains most of what im about to ask.
I’d like to run a backstab build in PvE, using the CoF Set and 0-30-25-15-0 traits.
I know that this is only a single target build, but it is extremly efficient and i find it fun to use =).
I ’m using d/d and sb and was wondering if my traits are ok and what runes and sigils/amulets i should use preferably for mostly PvE farming and dungeons.

Hope you can help me

Don’t even know what traits you selected but, since it is a vague question try this

lots of guides/discussions on the subject.

Looks like a very workable build.

However I’m not sure if going full Berserker gear is really the best choice. Sure, it does a lot of damage but you will still be low on HP. However your traits in Shadow Arts and Acrobatics do bolster your survivability quite a bit so you may be able to get by without having a lot of Vitality gear.

I’d still recommend you aim for at least 15.000 HP while trying to get as much Power > Crit-Damage (from Jewels) > Precision > Crit-Damage (from other places).

Hi Neol! I run a Backstab build for PvE and dungeons, because like you I find it fun. I’ve been experimenting with different setups over the last few days for my traits: all of my other characters are kind of tanky-supporty, so I wanted my thief to have BIG NUMBERS but I also didn’t want to fall over at any given time. For gear I’ve been running a mix of (mostly) Berserker’s and (some) Valkyrie’s, with Beryl Orbs/Exquisite Beryl Jewels. I have 40% crit chance — 45% with my Sigil of Accuracy and 50% if I choose to equip Signet of Agility. Backstab, however, always crits since I use Hidden Killer.

The two trait setups I’ve found most efficient are the standard 25/30/0/0/15: the Valk gear boosts your health enough you can still take a hit or two and dish out a powerful one in return. The other one I’m really fond of is 20/30/20. You lose a chunk of damage compared to 25/30, but taking Shadow’s Embrace and Infusion of Shadow means every time you C&D, Hide in Shadows or Shadow Refuge you not only drop a condition, but gain two initiative. You also get a bunch of bonus Toughness.

25/30/15 is also an option but I’m not sure if that gives any advantage over 0/0/15. Taking Shadow’s Embrace gives you excellent condition management but initiative can be a bit dicey, and taking Infusion of Shadow means initiative is stellar but there’s no real reason to take that trait over Thrill of the Crime or Flanking Strikes.

Try some things out, see how you like them. I’ve found 20/30/20 surprisingly resilient in dungeons but I like big Backstabs so much I usually swap between builds if I’m going to a condition-heavy dungeon or not. Hope this helps!

Thanks for your answers, it definitely helped.
@Birdpuncher: The reason why i dont like 15 in trickery is the following. I dont find myslef having trouble with initiative since im not spamming death bloddom for initiative. Infusion of shadows is more than enough most of the time.
The 15 points in acrobatics however allow me to dodge more often and allow for a more effective placement in stealth.

I guess that ill use the beryl jewels for most of my gear aswell. I have yet to decide how much tankyness i need.

I appreciate it if someone could tell me some particular (with name) acessoirs/rings i could use.

Hey, Birdpuncher, what runes do you use on your armor?

I don’t use runes at all, but rather Beryl Orbs. While Jewels can only be used on accessories, Orbs can be used on armor. Here’s somebody explaining the breakdown between some popular runes, and Ruby/Beryl Orbs:

Neol, check the trading post for Ruby (Ring/Earring/Amulet) of the Berserker, or Beryl (Ring/Earring/Amulet) of the Valkyrie.
