[PvE] Direct Damage and Survivability Stats
If you are struggling as a glasscannon in dungeons you are basically doing something wrong. You are just sacrificing damage to make up for your play.
Hey everyone, for a while now I’ve been trying to find a good stat combination that gives decent direct damage, while not being full glass cannon one-shotted – particularly in dungeons. Naturally, this is a bit tricky as a Thief because we are among the classes with the lowest base HP, and Toughness as a stat does not really shine unless you have high sustained healing (Which, while Thieves can achieve via traiting, it really hampers trait and stat bonuses towards Offense) and some already decent Vitality. I narrowed down some combinations that I’ve seen or heard other people use for the same purpose (Direct damage with survivability):
-Soldier’s and Knight’s
-Soldier’s and Berserker’s
-Knight’s and Valkyrie’s
-Knight’s and Soldier’s
Now, seeing as how we as Thieves have something of a Health problem, I defaulted whichever stat set gave Vitality to the Accessories slots, as those give more stats than Armor slots. You can see the comparisons in the spreadsheet picture.
Some notes:
-The listings for Power, Precision, Vitality and Toughness do not include the 916 base value you get. They instead show what bonuses you get from your gear alone. However, Attack, Critical Damage, Critical Chance, Health and Armor take into account base stats.
-Weapon and jewel/upgrade slots are not accounted for, with one exception: Attack.
-Attack is calculated with an average of 955 for weapon damage, 180 power from a berserker/soldier/valkyrie weapon, and 150 power from a berserker/soldier/valkyrie exquisite gem in accessory slots.
-Armor and health are calculated with a Thief in mind. So Health is working off lowest base, and Armor is working off of Medium Armor.
-No Trait stat bonuses are applied.
-Soldier accessories exist, but only as BoP dungeon drops.
Now, finding the right stat set is all subjective. You might want a bit more damage, or you might want to be a bit tankier. In my opinion, I believe the best option (for me) would be Berserker Armor with Soldier’s Accessories. Knight’s with Soldier’s leans towards the defensive side, and Berserker with Beryl (Valkyrie) leans towards the offensive side. Berserker with Soldier’s and Knight’s with Beryl’s are relatively close, however the former option gets nearly 100 extra power in exchange for losing only 1% critical damage, and 60 toughness (which, again, is negligible when adding/removing in small amounts).
