by PvE I mean Dungeons.
Say I’m in a 5man party and the other 4 are zerk wars.
Would the poisons I share do crap damage because the party members are not specced for condi?
Should I stick to zerk?

I thought they made venoms use thief condi dmg?duration?

I am not sure about the leeching venom dmg though.

Edit: Venom cd is too high for condi dungeoning I would think. Unless ofcoarse you just use it on boss or something.

I main a condo thf, with a venom share build. I love dungeoning with it. You may get some rough going with the zerk-only meta, but I have really enjoyed it.

To answer your main question: Venoms that you share to the other 4 people are applied using YOUR stats (condi dmg and duration). In fact, when the condo’s tick, like poison for example, you will see an additive number from all the poison applications of your shared venom. Poison itself is not crazy strong like burning is right now, but it is quite nice to see a poison tick for 6k.

Honestly, the only issues I have really had with it are areas where you HAVE to stack, or where you can not effectively use Death Blossom (I.e. it will throw you off a ledge or a stacking point to avoid mechanics like final boss of CM p1). Even then, though, that’s pretty rare. I haven’t seen any complaints or issues from others.

I wonder if Basi and Devourer venom sharing would be good ways to slice through a break bar.

I think venoms need a rethink.

  • Venomous Aura – hard to balance. it’s either too strong in a group or too weak on it’s own.
  • Condition types – are we going for damaging conditions or control conditions? because they’re very different and it feels like venoms don’t really know what they’re doing right now
  • Specialisation – why is VA in Shadow Arts? it’s not a defensive trait, I’d expect to see it in Deadly Arts – the (supposedly) condition tree.

I figured the venoms were purposely not just dmg conditions. Variety as they are utility.

- Agree on VA being hard to balance. I use it and you need to use Thieves Guild to optimize it a bit when you’re alone. But I think it would be easier to balance if each venom had it separate cooldown according to what it can do instead of the exact same cooldown for all of them including the elite one.

- Many utility families have damaging conditions on just some of them, it’s not a major problem here. Even some of the new “physical” skills the Daredevil is getting are based on condition damage.

- They unified all traits enhancing specific utility lines on the same trait line with the trait system revamp. Leeching venoms that heals is in SA, VA allows you to make your allies leech life. It’s also “team support”.

Once I get more dungeon badges – and gold for sigils / runes – I will give it a try.

As a casual player with not much skill – I saw pvp wvw footage and some guys are really really good – I want to help my team as best I can (conditions and leech sounds good when fighting dungeon bosses).

I will lose the ‘evade’ of S/P so I will need to be better with the dodges.

I will not be able to damage the ‘objects’ or ‘constructs’ so well (AC for example) but I hope that won’t be much of an issue, we will see.

For Basi, considering you’d be applying the equivalent of 10s of stun at once, I do think it’ll eat through the break bar nicely indeed. Until the very specific stun type of Basi gets nerfed on it’s break bar effect I suppose :p
