What do you use in PvP?
I have an European keyboard, use WASD for movement and QE for turning the camera.
But I have difficulties to strafe around the enemy as I see other thieves do.
Maybe setting camera to AD would help?

Maybe increase the rotation speed of camera or your mouse sensitivity…But you also need swiftness if you want to appear behind the enemy!(set at traits)

W and S say same
A and D are strafe left/right
1,2,3,4,5 stay same,
Q=heal
E= Utility
R= Utility
Mouse4= Utility
T= Elite
F1-F4 = Z,X,C,V (So just Z for thief)

That is how I do it.

W – walk forwards
S – walk backwards
A and D – Strafe
Weapon skills 1-3 stay the same
Weapon skill #4 – Q
Weapon skill #5 – R
Steal- E
Heal – C
Utility #1 – X
Utility #2 – T
Utility #3 – Caps Lock
Elite – Cntrl+E
Jump – space bar
Dodge – V (so i can jumpdodge easier)

Learn to play without keyboard turning. Forward, back, strafe left and right + mouse.

Razer Orbweaver (great for eles as well)

1-5= Various targeting and random options (tab targeting, stow weapons, interact/loot, etc.)
6-10= 6,7,8,9,0
11-15=1,2,3,4,5 (resting finger position row)
16-20=F1, F2, F3, F4, weapon swap
Joystick=Up, down, left, right (WASD, strafing only)
Button Below Joystick=Call target
Button Above Joystick=Select called target

Mouse for jump, dodge, camera

Dodge and Interact are on mouse buttons 4 and 5.

steal => q

1. => y ( us layout this is z )
2. => w
3. => r
4. => a
5. => g
   heal => t
   util1 => num_1
   util2 => 1
   util3 => 2
   elite => ctrl+space
   dodge=> num_5
   call target => c
   stomp / use => z ( us layout y )
   reverse view => shift
   assist focus => middle mouse
   ^ => weapon swap

for other professions:

F2 => 3
F3 => num_4
F4 => num_2

num_x is bound to my razer naga sidebuttons.

Personally,

F1 – Steal
12345 – Weapon skills

Shift 1/2 – Utilities 1 and 2
Mouse 4 – Utility 3
Mouse 5 – Elite
Middle mouse button – Heal

V – Dodge
Strafe – Q/E
Forwards/Backwards – S/W

I cut turn button out right from the start. (launch date)

A D= strafe
Tab + heal
1234 = Utility
Q=swap
L Alt= look back

This is the answer to your question. The default a/d is set to turn aka keyboard turning for all mmo’s (casuals don’t like change). Now if you go into a fps game a/d move you left and right. Don’t need turn unless you rp

A and D are changed to Strafe
Heal: R
Steal: 1
Autoattack: Mouse 4 (Thumb button 1)
Nearest Target: Mouse 5 (Thumb button 2)
Utility 1: Mouse 6 (Scroll Wheel push left)
Utility 2: Mouse 7: (Scroll Wheel push right)
Utility 3: Shift
Elite: Mouse 3 (Middle Click)
Weapon Switch: Tab

A and D are changed to strafe. Then I got myself a Razer Naga, which I highly recommend. It take some time to get used to, but when you do you are at a whole new level of play!

Oh, and for gods sake; do not ever use keyboard turning! Use your mouse to turn your character! Key turners are the easiest to kill, by far. And in this game, where movement are as important as it is, you should never do that.

Which traits do you suggest?
In the acrobatics line are IV Assassin’s Retreat and VI Fleet of Foot and the minor trait Expeditious Dodger.
None of them is in any of the thief PvP meta-builds, but perhaps I would be more successful with one of them…

Yeah consider switching to mouse for turning
Keyboard turning is just too imprecise, no matter what speed you set it to your enemies can just run circles around you. Even have time to /lol at your back…
