PvP player transitioning to WvW
you can play the same build or switch to 2/0/6/0/6 for more sustain and survivability. actually I recommend second variant.
You can totally use that same build in WvW, I used that build for quite some time. I just recently changed to 2/6/0/0/6, grabbing executioner in the 2nd line. I know it lacks survivability, but I mainly run around with a group of players, and the job I do is to burst down squishy enemies or that are low on health.
Major downside is the condition removal, you have none unless you take shadow step, so it is not recommended that you jump into the fray of battle xD
I took a mortar flame hit once and it pretty much killed me from 80% health-ish because my shadow step was on cd and no players were near me to help me cleanse it lol.
That may be the closest to the panic strike build. You could go with crit strikes 26600 or 06620.
Unlike PvP, in WvW you’ll be fighting with the must unfair and honorless tactics available. And it seems like everyone loves perplexity runes – you have been warned.
Lately I’m running PS most of the time, and imo its one of the best builds even for wvw.
2/0/6/0/6 is too defensive for me and I just can’t run without trickery anymore.
2/6/0/0/6 is also nice, but alot other solo roamers are using dire gear with perplexity (god thanks this doesn’t exist in pvp) or celestial.
I only use D/P during guild raids (otherwise S/D) and I also use 2/6/0/0/6.
It’s quite amazing with the right setup.
I find conditions to hardly be an issue in raid setups, but for solo/small scale roaming you might prefer going 0/6/2/0/6 for the condition clearing outside of shadowstep.
Thank you guys for the responses. I will look into some of the builds mentioned.
What type of gear set up am I looking at? I have full exotic (2 pieces berserker, 4 pieces valkyrie, with Runes of the Pack).
I run the same pvp build as you and use the exact same setup in WvW as well. Not claiming its the best or optimal, but i have no issue solo roaming 6/0/2/0/6, doing minor out numbered fights nothing to ridiculous, and taking camps. Only diff is my utilities between the two modes.
2/0/6/0/6 instead of 6/0/2/0/6 in www provides you with health regen, might stacking, ini on stealth and +1s stealth. And 200 toughness. 200 more power (if go 6 in DA) will not make the difference in www .
Sigils of fire and air. Rune of strengh is good if you go 6 in SA, otherwise pack is just fine.

There is a lot of discussion in our focusparty which build is better (DA or CS). I agree with you, you don’t need the condi remove during a guildraid, and I was also a big CS fan. But espacially for GvG’s DA brings you good utility. If you work with another thief, he goes bp, I switch to sb, blast the field. 10 sec cooldown on weapson swap. Target gets called, first shot immobilizes the target, he steals (daze) backstab, next shot immobilizes again. An ele with mistform on cd is dead. Or you steal→backstab→hit→immobilize. If the rage sigil kicks in, its so much damage.
And I am less on sb with DA. Not entirely sure why.
I’m looking to craft an ascended armor since I have all the mats for it, along with weapons and trinkets.
Would you guys post an effective D/P buildpage for WvW? Like exact armor stats, weapons, sigils, runes, food(preferable), TRAITS and utilities. Need to study everything a little before starting to craft since ascended is pretty much end-game and costly (at least for me) and I don’t wanna mess up. I’ve got 6x Strenght runes already if that helps, but can easily use something else.

This what I use: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fZAQNAV4al0Mp7plOxrJ8PNBNhs9kHR8O83yaFA-TFBFgACPBg69HWuAAAHEAA-w
as for armor and trinkets I run all berseker, I die pretty fast anyways so I don’t bother with health and other stuff. As for food I don’t use any.
you can swap out devourer venom for something else, but I use to root my enemy while my group helps kill.
Came back to report on my experiences with some of the builds a little bit.
So I am having the most success in WvW with D/P – SB – Panic Strike (60206)
I tried D/P – SB – 06620 and i struggled a little bit. Maybe I don’t have the traits set up correctly.
I also tried D/D builds, which I must say are EXTREMELY difficult coming from a PvP D/P background, but are really fun. I ran with everything from 26600 – Speed Runes to 06620 Eagle Runes and 06620 Rune of the Pack.
My D/D builds are non-signet builds and I am having trouble landing my Cloak and Dagger which is the make or break for success. I watch a lot of videos and I am not quite understanding what I am doing wrong with D/D.

I used to go deeper into DA aswell and it’s still really good!
Actually, I only switched over upon finding out about the Furious Maintenance Oil quite recently.
I’ve been prefering high precision + high ferocity over raw power since.
Truth be told, I haven’t really felt like number crunching it yet, but I feel like I’m more efficient on the 2/6/0/0/6 build. In fact, with my exotic gear (working on the ascended…) I still got pretty good Power.
Both builds work extremely well and I think it really just boils down to what kind of tactic you (and the rest of the focus party) prefer. The combo you speak of works perfectly fine with CS line too, don’t know why you brought it up other than it just being a nifty little tactic :P
I find I switch between SB just as often on DA, it depends on the flow of a fight and how lucky I feel.
egh, I’ll try get around to crunching it down before/during/after that stream tonight about new Borderlands, I guess…
I brought this up, because even if I’m on sb, PS can trigger and this often can help another thief to bring down the target.
Raw numbers CS is clearly better, but the utility from DA can be really nice. ATM we mix it in our focusparty (2 DA & 2 CS + 1 Mesmer)
Oh, the Furious Maintance Oil looks nice, I will give it a try. I was thinking about using https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Toxic_Sharpening_Stone and maybe changing a weapon to giver for PS.
Furious Maintenance Oil only sees better efficiency against very squishy targets; Sharpening Stones will end up helping out more on low power (under 3k) or builds not running Valkyrie gear.
