If, as a thief who is not stealthed, attacks a thief who is stealthed – will my #1 dagger attack change icons in the chain of attack if i hit him?

yes, and numbers will be seen on the screen

I don’t think damage numbers will show up on your screen until your target is out of stealth but your auto attack will go to the next attack in the chain.

Yep and before the days of DP that was the normal response. Since its relatively easy to predict movement you would just CnD before he popped of BS or whatever skill he was going to use.
