How often do you use Shadow Strike in WvW roaming 1v1 or 1vx? I tend to forget about Shadow Strike and… the number 2 ability. I just mostly CnD > sneak attack > auto attack and wait ’till revealed debuff is gone then start all over again.

I don’t use it all that much when I use the set as a condition build. With a power build, it makes for a fun, if inefficient offset, and that’s where I use it a lot. With a lot of power and crit, it can hit for 3-5K.

Couple steal, infiltrator’s signet and shadow trap with shadow strike, and you can dart in and out 3 or 4 times. Shadow trap seems to work well with it, as you stealth when you trigger the shadow step. You can then use sneak attack without having to CnD.

Again, it’s not all that efficient as a power build, but it’s fun.

90% of the thief population doesn’t like to acknowledge that Body Shot exists, so don’t worry too much about that.

As for Shadow Strike – it’s major purpose is to play keep-away. It puts you back at around 600-750 range so you can comfortably keep auto-attacking without being in your enemy’s face. You’d use it when staying in melee for those 3 seconds of revealed is simply too dangerous.

I used it all the time on my P/D setup. It’s very useful for getting out of immobilizes when people are trying to gang on you. Also if you’re out of dodge and some guard is using whirl (or whatever) it’ll get you out of there and prevent that damage.

It’s not a gap closer, it’s a gap creator. Very very useful.

All the time. It gets you out of risky situations. As a P/D thief, your entire goal is to kite by whatever means necessary. Thieves who are not utilizing this against gap closing professions, as well as using tons of cripple or that classic mistake of CnD -> immediate sneak attack without getting some distance will fail. Remember we aren’t backstab thieves.

It’s awesome for avoiding attacks. Especially when someone like a Warrior or another Thief Immobilize you so they can start unloading damage.
