Hey Guys,

I am a newly turned level 80 (my first char) and I was wondering on my norn thief what is a really effective build that I could use for Pve and also wvw, I leveled mostly with a carrion P/D build that I really enjoy but it got a bit boring after a while so I want to try somehing new, I tried out P/P and I really liked it, so now I was wondering is it possible to play P/P and SB, a pure range thief? or would I need to accompany my P/P with something else, is P/P strong? Answers would be greatly appreciated :)

If you enjoy the PP build, try out the PP/SD build. It works great in PVP and also PVE. But you could run with PP/SB also.

I tested that out in the myths, and I really liked! One question though what attributes should I stack If I want some good hits but still survivability? (P/P and S/D)

I mostly ran with berserkers in that vid. But you could replace the rings/ammys with some more vitality or toughness if you feel you need it. The build does give you some great survivability even in full berserkers.

Infiltrators strike. Always use it. It allows you to shadow step to your target, and shadow return when things get nasty. It’s also a good idea to switch to pistols once you shadow return and start bursting down with unload. I really started to love this build when I started using this ability more often.

Use CnD on your S/D to go stealth for escapes.

The 20 in acrobatics allows you good mobility with constant dodging.

Use your Blinds on PP and Signet of Shadows, it makes your target miss their next outgoing attack.

Shadow Refuge – Good escape/heal and if timed right you can pull off two free sneak attacks.

See, the build was built with mobility/survivability/damage in mind.

I would say using short bow and pistol dagger is a really great build for the thief. The short bow because of the cluster bomb abillity vs groups of mobs. And the dagger pistol number 3 ability for kiting bosses or single targets.

Just spec upp some in the acrobat traits and youll be pretty much invincible if you learn how to dodge correctly.

Yes, I’ve used it in fractals a few times. You can just change some of the traits around without having to respec, or you can keep it as is.
