Q:
I’d like to post this as a question, why would anyone design Thieves the way they are in WvW and lesser in PVP? Obviously, the whole mechanic is just to infuriate and annoy the players whom aren’t. I just don’t understand the logic in frustrating the players. They’ll just stop if it bothers them too much won’t they?
So I ask, why does this class exist at all? When they are so outside the scope of the other classes?

+1 I stopped because it bothered me too much.
Answer: because wow had stealth and wow emmigrants would complain if GW2 didn’t have it, whether it’s good or bad for the game.
Stealth is an ok mechanic, if thieves go down quickly and easily without it….
Uhg. Another Thief cry post. Its in the game because its a different mechanic and its fun. Get some anti stealth traps in wvw.

They do, people that complain need to learn their class, every class has some trait to counter thief burst.
Stealth is an awful mechanic. Personally, I have no idea why GW2 has it.

I read this as: every class should build to counter thieves and only thieves.
^ I’ll agree with you on that Funset. Out of 8 professions, the other 7 have to make a special build to counter one? That right there shows reasoning for my question.
If this is, “Uhg. Another Thief cry post.” that validates my point. You said “another” as in there must be more to many other post. Signifying an issues for many. You also said “Crying” which signifies that this one profession infuriates the other 7, right. Thus, should my question then be, how is making players cry a good thing? Aren’t they just going to stop playing?
For “Get some anti stealth traps in wvw.” So the other 7 have to spend to counter one? Meanwhile, that one already has a cost advantage by not having to pay for armor repair as often. How is that good or remotely fair for the other 7 classes?
Every way I look at it, it’s appears to be a very selfish decision to have this class in the game. It seems to only exist to be a constant thorn in peoples sides. What I can’t understand is, how is that good for a game? How is this supposed to create greater enjoyment for the majority of players? Morally, why even reward playing the label of thief with such abilities? Shouldn’t the cost come to them to reinforce the societal standards of crime doesn’t pay!

Anti stealth traps,Anets way of saying..We got no clue how to balance out thiefs/stealth..here have some stealth traps instead…..
Yeah, they should just remove everything everyone doesn’t like from the game. That would solve everyone’s problem! While we’re at it we should remove Eles, because they use a bunker build. Fighting them sucks, remove them from the game. Mesmer clones suck to fight against also, trying to figure out which target to kill isn’t fun. Let’s remove them too!
Wait… didn’t bunker Ele’s get nerfed, hmm….
Besides, were bunkers a problem in sPvP or just popular?
I believe they did! I’m not sure on sPvP. Didn’t thieves get nerfed again? I think they did, it happens about every patch.

Right, because you might as well not try to counter a competent mesmer., lol
There’s only 1 way to properly balance stealth, and that’s by not making it permanent.
There’s only 1 way to properly balance perma-stealth and that’s by adding a “shimmer” so skilled players can still counter them.
@DeWolfe , this kind of topic belongs in the thief forums not on general. Thief performs aswell in WvW as in PvP , thief is not a permanent stealth class news flash , I bet you never played one or else this thread wouldn’t pop up. L2P issues.. cute thread though

Many professions have to make special builds to counter others. Thieves are not an exception. They too require especial builds to take down (to have a chance of) bunker elementalists, guardians, etc etc… Contrary to the popular (ignorant) belief, the ‘general’ glass cannon backstab build is only able to reliably take down upleveled and noo… err… ‘begginers’.

Oh I see, so deleting a popular playstyle that is requested in every MMO should be the wiser and better choice for the company.
And about crying… you know what a vocal minority is, right?

As fair as having one dedicated trap that specifically counters that one class, I suppose. When I see anti-clone/minion/pet traps, or anti-protection/healing traps, I’ll be open to further debate about fairness.
And about having a reapir cost advantage, maybe those other professions that don’t die in first place (even in the middle of an enemy zerg) should be able to illustrate further on the subject.

You don’t like thieves, point taken. Many other players do, you should take the point.
So I ask, why does this class exist at all? When they are so outside the scope of the other classes?
You are on to them, it’s to annoy and enrage bad players in the desperate hope they might try to improve. Or bash their keyboards. Either way improving the general quality of the player base.
You asked.
Well, to be honest it isn’t only a Thief problem.
Mesmer is way, way more annoying then Thief. Not only he has stealth, but it also relies on bad targeting system, laggs and huge visual confusion. They are pretty much more annoying to face compared to thieves. No wonder PvP is full of them.
I wouldn’t be playing this game if there weren’t stealth. I only play games with stealth classes.
Some people like mages, some like warriors, I like stealthers…
