…for a mentor. I am a WvW player almost to exclusion and have tried a condition build. IMHO it takes too long to down an enemy with a condition build in WvW as you never know how many friends he has incoming/when they plan to appear.

Next up was the glass cannon BS build. All Beserkers, armor, weapons, trinkets, etc. Works wonders at getting THAT guy killed, and quickly. Trouble is, there is often 2 or (gasp) maybe three guys and I do not like spending the 30-40 secs after downing the first one running for my life. Soo….

Now I am shooting for a POW/VIT/TOUGH build and hoping beyond hope that it has enough damage to satisfy while keeping me alive and in the fight long enough to down more than one NME. I want to be flexible enough to melee and keep range with stealth abilities but not an all stealth build. Basically a balanced thief that still has some effect. I went ahead and got the WvW Invaders set armor-wise and I am thinking S/P as a main weapon set. I am looking for advice though so I am flexible.

Is there anyone out there in Thief-dom who is playing a like build and is willing to be free with advice? Some of the questions that I would ask are:

1. How many HP are enough?
2. What about toughness?
3. If you are using Invaders armor, how did you rune it?
4. Did you stay POW/TOU/VIT with your jewelry? What about your weapons?
5. Did I neglect to ask any other relevant quesions?

I’d ‘preciate any/all help and comments. Dank’e

ill give you my build its got more toughness and hp then d/d build and good damage with some burst you can take out bunkers easy trust me.

its a called dazelock thief it uses s/d main and bow or s/p off hand weather you wanna be more offensive or defensive.

utitilities i use are hide in shadows, haste caltrops and signet of sahdows you can switch caltrops for tripwire depending if you wanna to add slow and bleed or knock the guy down for 3 seconds.

my build is 10/0/25/15/20

traits are

DA/ mug
SA/shadows embrace,hidden thief
AB/power of inertia
TR/thrill of the crime,trickster

i use 6x mesmer rune on all armor
i use silgil of superior paralyzation on sword
superior air on dagger, same if you do sword/pistol offhand
sigil of superior bloodlust on bow off hand

knights amulet with berserker jewel

your main damage with bell auto attack with s/d youll hit around 1000 ta 1500 on average depending on their armor usually i use steal with basilisk venom,
cuse the backstab dazes the target for 2 seconds but it turns into 2.9 or 3 second daze just enough for your revealed debuff to deactivate so you can basically keep a guy dazed for ever or dazelocked if you keep hitting the backstabs it works also if you hit them on the side of their body so you got some room for error also daze isnt like stun when your dazed all you can do is run like a chicken and most people i daze run when they see that first 2.9 second daze and im dishing out 1200 critting for 16 on them i throw down caltrops and they move slow so they cant escape i pop haste and can dish out 7k with my auto attacks alone if all land within that 4 seconds.

pros
good dodging great surviability has 20.7 k hp
has nice dps with burst when using haste
good control dazelock and caltrops screw your oponent
you have about 1200 toughness so your not squishy
good condition removal remove everytime you cnd into bs
and use his
great mobility with sos
team fighting available and roaming still

cons:
you dont kill fast like d/d fights sometimes take 10 seconds
your not the toughest so you do take a bit more damage from glass cannons
you can win easy still tho
when using haste you cant dodge so dont pop it in a 2v1 with less then half health
you cant steal npc as easy as d/d
