Representative?
I know a lot of Thieves who are tons better than I, I can’t play one class without getting bored, that would be a great help in working with ANet to develop our class further. Though, ANet would prefer someone on an sPvP team I suppose.
There are some YouTube famous thieves, and there was an article on guildwars2junkies I thought, but i can’t find it now. it could have been on another site. I think it was called “key and dagger” but all I can find on that now is a defunct blog.
The thief article writer I remember hadn’t written anything since wintersday ended, iirc. Personally, my own learning curve had begun to outpace his though, so his articles stopped being very interesting.
I don’t know if any of these folks are really working with Anet tho. I guess they just pay attention to the meta (im sure someone on an Anet team watches the youtube vids if they rise in popularity).

Lowell a fairly reputable Thief often partakes in the “state of the game” discussions they have every few months. He’s best known for playing a Thief although most high-rated players probably play all professions to an extent.

There is no representative for a class, just because someone is known in the community for his video’s does not make him represent all Thieves or Engineers for that matter.
We all represent the Thief class and everything we say and do here represents what we are and what we do.
(On a side note, i’ve seen some high rank Thieves in sPvP that spanked my kitten And I consider myself a good Thief and PvPer)
