Reveal on missed backstab?

try out SR – i was revealed after 2 missed backstabs
stealth stacking = revealed after a couple of missed backstabs
SB #1 in stealth doesnt reveal you though at any time…
As a thief i think Its better it stays this way, counter play to thieves who constantly passively avoid damage
I hope u guys r right if not then medi guards will just faceroll even more
seriously if this is not a bug then i’m going back to S/D and if thats nerfed too much then i’ll just go ranger and pew pew everyhing
It looks like the bug that broke stealth recently. It’s can’t be just random. ANet must be nerfing stealth.

you know how easy it is to avoid one backstab? i only have to stab the air without a target or anything nearby and i get revealed
thats basically making thieves almost useless
the number of missed backstabs is also inconsistent
and fun fact: in SR i’m getting the revealed debuff after 1 backstab but i’m still in stealth and can backstab until i stab the air another time
Ok, using backstab will apply revealed and remove one stack of stealth. But if you don’t remove the last stack of stealth you have, you remain both in stealth, and revealed at the same time.
Try that with shadow refuge. Backstab once at the start of the refuge after you got two stacks and you’ll be immune to the further pulses while still invis a moment.
+1 hopefully this is a bug.

You do realize that we could technically get of 3 backstabs in 4 seconds so long as we do it in our refuge? Time for some bunker tears…

Which I think is fair. Failed attempt at BS removes 1 stack of stealth. If you have 2 or 3 you get X amount of attempts. Sounds very reasonable to me and a lot less harsher than automatic reveal on any miss attack.
I’m a thief player too. I think Anet is going to do something to stealth and now is the time to give reasonable feedback instead of resisting and getting stealth nerfed to the ground. Just my 2 cents.

This is a bug, but you can abuse it for the time being by running revealed training. If you stack multiple stealths and since it removes 1 stack of stealth but keeps you in stealth still grants revealed you can now backstab with +200 power. YAY!
Combine that with leeching venoms* on shadow arts and you get life leech and 2 stacks of might. Pretty much 1 shots.

The current situation will probably change cause it looks buggy. I guess the Thief hating intern that though to sneakily nerf us with an undocument change didn’t knew that “RemoveBuff(STEALTH)” would only remove one stack of stealth.

do the math, really…. please…. before you quote something like that. Thieves aren’t magical, they obey the same stat rules everything else does. Did you have 25% vulnerability? Did the thief have 25 stacks of might? 5 stacks of guard stacks? food? bloodlust sigil? maybe even superior BL bloodlust? claimed objective with buffs? I mean what information would go with that? Missing so much information in such a general statement. I’d love to know the true context to how a war could lose half their health when they have 3k armor in the example provided. Oh it’s possible if say the war has no vitality, but still the power required is quite high for that, what could a war do with the same power? Like say eviscerate?
But hey, Tactical strike doesn’t reveal just standing and hitting 1, mesmer doesn’t get revealed doing the same, and that backstab from SR was kinda funny in a depressing way.

why every patch is a pain in the kitten for us?
Because the stealth implementation is complete spaghetti code. They can’t even look at it without breaking something.
Of course anet has to kitten up thieves every single patch.
This bug has gotten me killed COUNTLESS times already today to the point where I refuse to play until it’s fixed. It’s completely frustrating. Seems thieves can never catch a break.

Have any of you noticed if you take the stealth on skill trait half of your steals do not actually stealth you? In combat or not I have been playing around with it and it is just inconsistent. I don’t think its an internal timer issue either
speaking of bugs, withdraw healing numbers didn’t get increase despite what is written in patch notes lol
i guess the guy who was asking for nerfs of wirthdraw/stealth was the same guy that was responsible for thief coding :|

did you get hit by engi? because they got trait called Lock on which activates by any fart engi does, has 20 sec CD and puts 6 sec revealed on w/e engi hits

Thief vs Engi this is actually a really fun trait from the Thief perspective!
Its adding that little bit of “lol xD giggles rekt”, great addition to engis gameplay which was lacking exactly that.
