Revealed Training does not affect Backstab!
It states to gain power after being revealed, so It obviously won’t effect backstab
If that’s true, then why take it at all? Stealth builds all rely on their in-stealth “1” attack for a huge portion of their damage. They might as well have just not added anything in Deadly Arts.

You can say the same for almost every traitline

Because you still attack after your stealth attack?
It’s a PvE trait that is a minor passive boost to the min/max DPS glass cannon build and it’s the only worthwhile trait in any circumstance out of all the new GM traits.
@OP:
How do you ever backstab while you have the revealed buff? It is not possible, so of course the new trait wouldn’t impact it.
The reality is that I don’t think any of the new traits will be used.

Actually it is very useful in pve. 30 in deadly arts, go for sundering strikes, dagger training and revealed training.
In PvE, d/d dps rotation is 5>1>auto till the end>5>1, it fits like a glove. And revealed training will increase the auto attack dps. So this is a pretty good buff to thief’s main PvE dps rotation
Was also thinking maybe you can use the revealed to increase pistolwhip damage or stuff like dancing dagger. So a bit of testing around and it may be pretty useful. If not, well hey, 200 power on autoattacks is something if there are no hammers around.
Step 1: Trait mug
Step 2: Precast backstab then steal
???
+200 power backstab. You guys don’t even know how to abuse your own class’ mechanics properly.

If we’re talking PvE, then doing this means you drop Dagger Training or Sundering Strikes for a +200 on your backstab only when steal is available. Doing this will reduce your overall DPS.
If we’re talking PvP, this still isn’t enough to make a deep DA build viable.

They need to enable big red letters on this forum.

I didn’t mention traiting for it was viable in my post. :\

What kind of “circumstance” could this possibly be true under? PvP only, no consumables, Final Destination? You’re out of your tree if you think that Resilience of Shadows doesn’t have a place in WvW, or that Bewildering Ambush isn’t a great pick for a P/D condi.

If you precast backstab then hit mug, mug will hit first because its instant. Thus revealing you. If you wait to long youll backstab into thin air and then use mug, still revealing you. Elaborate
Thank goodness.

Mug will reveal you and backstab will hit your target because you just stole to it during the animation. Why the kitten would you wait to steal if you’re trying to land a guaranteed backstab?

But mug will still hit first. How does that not reveal you?

Are you dyslexic? The point of mug is to reveal you so you get the +200 power before your backstab finishes the animation.
Ohhhhh…………………
Since the cast bar is still there, youre still technically casting backstab even tho youre revealed. I’ve always wondered how that worked
for example, pre patch i have 120% crit damage, now its 231, any one knows what the math is to compute the difference now?
Elementalist S : DD
Blackgate
^ Add 150% to your old crit damage. You went from 270% → 231%, which is a ~14.4% drop on every crit. Naturally your non-crit damage stayed the same, so you have to modify that number by your crit chance.

Well..I did say it’s a PvE trait, so the circumstance is PvE, lol.
I think you’re confused because I’m not arguing for this trait in PvP, nor am I saying that any of the new traits are best for any PvP.

I think you’re confused. You said “only worthwhile trait in any circumstance”, so I’d like to know what kind of crazy criterion you are using to determine that uselessness of the other five traits. Two of them are well-suited for WvW, after all. There’s no calling the new SA GM trait worthless: I’ll be throwing that on ram operators, full stop.
