Guild Wars 2

I for one would love to be able to use a sniper rifle in WvW, but I think a support-type staff thief could be another cool route to go. It would focus on shadows, with stealth/ confusion/ blind type abilities. You guys think there’s any chance for this?

i’d rather like an axe on thief and no i dont think so ranger already gets staff

I want a melee Staff. With a mix of Acrobatics and some stealth possibly.

I want 1200 range on something whatever it is thief gets

The weapon i see would fit thieves best is spear. It could be a low damage very fast defensive weapon with one demand defensive skills that do more damage and counter attack enemy skills with no stealth but perhaps 1 or 2 evades.
Also one 360 cone cc skill to knockdown enemies.

When i read this, i thought of monks using sticks beating the crap out the bad guys in movies lol.

I was really pulling for thief staff but it seems unlikely since Ranger is getting that. Now I’m interested in MH/OH mace as a short-range, low-damage CC weapon. Or throwing axes as a medium-range weapon.

Or really anything but rifle.

If I’m not mistaken, I believe the speculation is that Revenants will use power staves as a melee Dps weapon. (speculation spawning from the trailer when he’s fighting with the staff that people initially hoped was a spear) so that type of combat may happen, but not on this class. Atleast not initially.

rifle ,mace, axe, longbow..those are the weapons i think a thief can have if we look at it thematically.

tho longbow would be pushing it too far. Thieves arent rangers

A support thief would be a little bit weird to be honest, as it’s pretty much an “assassin” class type, with high burst.
So I think the rifle would be the most reasonable weapon to give to the thief (considering the fact that the thief has no long range weapon). But the axe would make sense aswell imo. Maybe with some hardhitting melee skills, but D/D does exactly that.

I don’t think we will see a thief with a staff anytime soon.

I agree. Rifle would be the coolest imo but I’m afraid that it will be as useless as a warrior rifle.
