Hi everyone, is rune of strength viable for dungeons or scholar is still the best? I’m looking for a rune which can be used for both WvW and Dungeons.

Strength is more than viable and its quite easy to drop below 90% so it beats scholar. Also generally in a group its quite easy to maintain 20+ stacks of might.

Strength runes are certainly very good. However, I don’t think they’re necessarily the best for thieves. Thieves certainly have ways of generating might, but not as much as other classes that would get more bang for their buck from strength runes. There’s nothing wrong with getting them, but there’s other viable alternatives if you don’t want to drop 80 gold on a set of runes that is likely going to be nerfed.

Scholar runes were mentioned, and there’s plenty of other sets that still perform pretty well. Ranger, Eagle, Pack, Rage, Citadel, and Hoelbrak all come to mind.

Strength runes are the choice if you want the bleedingest of the bleeding edge, but you won’t likely notice a difference between those or the other listed ones. And when the inevitable nerf comes, you won’t be kicking yourself for dropping 80 gold on a rune set that’s on par with the rest.

Re-reading the OP, I’d say Hoelbrak would probably be your best bet. They’re pretty much the same as Strength, except you swap the damage mod for better condition survival, which would serve you better in WvW.

Thanks for the responses. I actually have the rune set. I got it for free from an enemy in WvW. After dueling him, he taught me how to play thief then gave me money to buy strength runes.

Yes. It was really unexpected. I thought that he’ll be bash me cause he added me in a party after i lost in our duel. Surprisingly he’s a really good guy and wanted to help me improve. Good thing I accepted that party invite.

If you’re getting them for free, then hell yeah Strength runes are the way to go!

Lol, I want to get to know this thief :-D Giving away 90g. Good on you tho, use those freebie runes! They are pretty good.

Strength is fine for WvW when you’ll most likely be running PoI or HA to stack up for yourself, but in dungeons someone else will most likely be doing the stacking for you (an Ele or Phalanx Warrior), but more importantly you’ll be probably using Signet of Malice a lot of the time, and it’s very easy to maintain 90% HP with it, making Scholar superior.
