Rune of ogre
I use ogre for d/p 2 6 0 0 6 build. They are nice overall. The +dmg is nice especially since its always active and the +stats it gives are useful for power builds. If you’re looking for alternatives, pack runes are a popular option currently. Depending on your build you can also look into strength, problem is that with non-SA d/d or d/p builds you don’t have access to might to the level which makes strength more powerful than ogre.
Assuming you’re not playing SA I would say look into pack or ogre with myself preferring ogre. Another option might be runes of the pirate, though I’ve always thought that ogre will do better overall.

Rock Dog is op. Use ogre.
Rune of Strength are another very good bet if you’re speccing into Shadow Arts.
You’ll be able to maintain 12 might Stacks easily, and the damage increase trait is very nice. Rock dog is strong, but only in 1v1,as it might give away your position in 1vX
I never really understood why so many like the rock dog – at least when playing against a thief. It’s a free CnD. Aren’t strength runes just…better?
you have to be careful with ogre runes.. damage that bounces will always bounce to you.. even in stealth.. (ex.. trick shot, engi shots.. etc)
I’d suggest Runes of the Pack as it gives everything you really need. High power, 100 extra prec, and fury proc. I could also suggest Rune of the Traveler as it usually saves people a utility slot.
Rock dog, could be good… but it seems he follows me even while I’m in stealth… who knows this “trick”, it could know where I am.
So I decided to run Rune Of Divinity. It gives me just 90 power less than rune of ogre…
I know Strenght is the best, but for now, that i don’t have so much gold, I think I’m going to use divinity!

If you’re talking about WvW, then consider taking traveller runes since it’s such a pain switching between signet of shadows and something more useful when you get into combat.
Also, since you naturally have 50% crit chance, I’d recommend running with executioner’s.
im using this on my 2/6/0/0/6 D/P thief why in pvp? cuz it triggers necro well and traps during fights, rock dog can block classes with projectile interrupt while im stomping , and rock dog saves me alot during 1v1 downed situation. and rock dog is always a hindrance in smale scale fight 2v2 or 3v3 cuz rock dog a bit tanky. and rune of ogre stat is really good for power burst build like backstab thief same to rune of scholar
Like Colo said – the upside to dog outweighs the downside. I find it irritating to fight against as well… I play a lot of D/D and it eats one of my mini-cleaves.
The only reason I m not using rune of ogre is cuz it seems that while Im in stealth, my enemy can see where Im, or makes an idea about that.
Now Im using rune of the pack for my d/d build (0/6/6/2/0) and sometimes with d/p one.
Im not thinking about scholar because the 10 % + damage is only above 90 % of my health, if enemy strike me just one time I have an health below 90% asap.
The main problem is with backstab damage that I think is really low

what do you think about it?
I’d really like to share each other opinion!

Considering the 2/6/0/0/6 build lacks condi clear, I’d say hoelbrak would be better over strength. Cripple alone is a nasty condition for d/d since it relies heavily on landing CnD which is difficult when slow.
break. I feel like they should be back by now..”
