Rune of the Thief
I like the substitution of power for condition damage, as there’s really no point in running thief runes in their current hybrid form. The addition of fury might bring some balance issues however… It might be more acceptable if you raised the cooldown on the Fury proc to 30 seconds. That would be the same cooldown as the CS trait “Furious Retaliation” and would help prevent fury stacking abuse.
Otherwise, a decent idea.
i have better idea for 6th bonus: when struck, daze foe for 2.5 sec… because nightmare runes are balanced apprently

1. FR gives 10s of fury on 30s cd so, 5s of fury with same cooldown would be a bit too long for the runes. Personally I think this would work best with shorter fury and shorter cd, 2s/7cd. Too short to stack fury and the duration would need an aggressive playstyle, the thief would have to chose between making use of the fury proc or sitting at stealth gaining whatever stealth related benefits he traited for.

If you want an “automatic” stun, get Runes of Air and cast Basilisk Venom. The moment you get hit, the Lighting Strike will hit your enemy and stun him because of Basilisk.
It’s the new “cheese” rune that some people use in 1v1s to guarantee BV to hit.

2. +35 Power
3. stolen skills deal +5% more damage, steal recharges 5% faster
4. + 75 Precision
5. strikeing a foe from stealth will drain one boon from him to you
6. move 25% faster ,When striking a foe from behind or the side, gain +5% damage
this would at least fit the generall thief playstyle: mobility, stealing and focused on single targets….

I would like to see this rune with a steal bonus. But i would just really be glad if they changed the condition dmg for power. And that’s not asking much. At least it would give the original 6th bonus coherence with thief power backstab builds. As it is this rune is a total insanity and i see no use for it.

Yeah and rune of the ranger should be
1. 25 precision
2. -5seconds on pet swap.
3. 50 precision
4. +10% dmg with projectiles when standing on higher ground then opponent.
5. 100 precision
6. +25% speed. Opening strike causes 6seconds of reveal.
I think this set of runes would fit the hunter/archer play style. Long range hunter, tracker, beastmaster.
Question about this, if they say this Rune of the Thief is supposed to give precision and condi damage, does that mean that is what this class is meant to be like? Or am I reading too much into it.

Well some thieves played the gimmick 2 6 0 0 6……Trickery+Critical Strikes is precision+condition damage maybe they foreseen it lol so kind of unlikely to change lol.

You sure about that? Rune of the Ranger gives a flat 7% damage bonus with a pet, Rangers can basically take 100% of that bonus. 10% damage from the side or behind? The “strength” of the new pew pew ranger is to maintain distance and position yourself in hard to reach spots, you don’t worry about which direction your target is facing. So I don’t see them making very efficient use of that 10% bonus damage.
Additionally, the ranger would have to make perfect use of the fury up-time on the Thief rune.
I think rangers would still be better off using RoR, but I agree with some posters above about giving the Fury ICD a longer duration. 5s every 15s v 10s but make it a shared fury with nearby allies.
Another version of this rune could be:
1. +25 Precision
2. +35 Ferocity
3. +50 Precision
4. 25% Chance on critical hit, grant fury (5s) to you and your nearby team-mates (15s) cool down
5. +100 Precision
6. Gain 10% damage bonus when striking a foe from the side or behind.
If it was just power and precision in its current state, it would be usable to an extent – kind of like budget scholars.
I’d only use them over scholars if it was Power + Ferocity + 10% damage on behind/side. Thing is, so would then a lot of other people. Making it exclusive to stealth doesn’t really work, either, since rangers/mesmers/norns also have that access.

Power + precision with that 10% damage sounds super OP. Would work for just about any class, ranger, power necro, etc. Everyone would be running them instead of Pack or Scholar Runes.

Instead of wanting MOAR +% dmg why not ask for something more utility like? Steal already has 2 sources of CDR so I seriously doubt that will happen. And people don’t like surprise stealths so a free stealth won’t happen, and there is Already a rune set for that.
I wouldn’t mind seeing it come with a 6 piece bonus of:
(6) 50% chance when hit with a projectile to create a smoke screen for 4 seconds. 90 second cool down.
Anyone could use them.
So many wants to see it as power runes lol it will stay the same maybe it will be the rune future celestial thieves use if the class is kept alive. Surprised no one made condition suggestions.
