Runes for full zerker thief?
Rune of the Scholar if you are good enough to hold your HP > 90% otherwise I would recommend to use Ruby orbs

Scholar better than Rune of the Eagle? 165 precision + 8% critical damage + 5% damage (when target is below 50%) VS 165 Power + 8% critical damage + 10% damage (when health above 90%) ?
Not sure if 165 Power or 165 Precision would be better. Im running Runes of Eagle atm, but dont really want to buy 6 pieces of armor to sandbox to see which does more damage with a full zerker build. Anyone know?
Anyone? :p (15 char OP)
Scholar is 10% when YOUR OWN health is 90%. If you don’t get hit, that’s the best rune for damage but you’re below 90% quickly.
Runes of the Eagle just isn’t good imo. Both Divinity and Ruby Orbs are much better.
Raw DPS-Wise, Ruby Orbs beat everything except Scholar runes when the player stays above 90% hp.
In short, i agree with Anubarak.
Ruby Orbs > all
24 Power 14 Prec 2% Crit Dmg X6
(Same Crit Dmg as Divinity but more offensive stats)
Price wisely… Ruby Orbs… 6x Runes of Divinity 50g yay!
Another alternative for thieves are Runes of Lyssa, since you have access to a 45 second cooldown elite, thus a 45 second cooldown all boon + all condition cleanse…
But since you don’t want survivability, Ruby Orbs. Simply put, you’re extremely unlikely to remain above 90% health for longer than 1 or 2 hits against a decent player with a squishy thief.
Wow that burning pitch is really misleading if it has the same icon as regular fire.

….Wrong thread…?

IIRC the cooldown on the superior lyssa runes will prevent you from getting all boons every 45s, though you can get it every 90s.
Depending on your build and style. If you are in the WvW zerging around with a Bow, scholar is amazing for damage as your health is very unlikely to drop (if you don’t do anything stupid, like rushing with the commander without a stun breaker). I run S/D a lot with Scholar and if you are experienced you can get a lot of hits with the additional 10% as well, but it is much harder than the raw increase orbs give. Pick your poison

You can keep a set of Ruby orb armor and a set of Scholar rune armor.
Think ahead before each fight and try to remember how you usually fare in this fight. If you think you wont be touched, go scholar.
If it’s too clunky to swap all those armors…then do what I do:
Scholar Runes x 6. A spare Helm and Aquabreather that has Ruby Orb in it. This way you retain the Scholar x 5 bonus underwater and on land you just adjust by switching your helmet.
Scholar Rune x 6: 165 Power, 8% crit dmg, 10% more dmg while above 90%HP.
Scholar Rune x 5 + Ruby Orb: 185 Power, 14 precision, 10% crit dmg.
Ruby Orb x 6: 120 Power, 84 Precision (4% crit rate), 12% crit dmg.
Depending on the party you are in, your crit rate will be hard-capped at 100% anyway so the 84 precision advantage of Ruby Orb is irrelevant in my scenario. So it’s down to 65 power vs 2% crit damage…pretty sure difference is negligible.
