Running into a lot of warrior roamers
haven’t played S/D a lot, but its strength is evasion – the trick is timing and knowing your enemy’s moves. I’d recommend partying with an opposing warrior in wvw and asking them to duel. Then they might teach you how to counter them a bit.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Endure_Pain
You can tell if they have activated Endure Pain by the buff on the “buff bar” when you target them. Note that they can also trait for an additional Endure Pain at 25%.
No you can not strip endure pain, it’d be like them trying to take your Bas Venom when you activate it.
Earthshaker (the stun) is at best on a 7s CD and it’s a 2s stun with full adrenaline (1/1.5 at 1 and 2 stages). Hammer 5 is a wind-up single target knockdown, they hold the hammer over the shoulder and swing down, hammer 4 is an AoE KD, they stand in place and swing around their waist. Shield 4 is a close quarters stun and looks like a slide, very short range though. Mace Burst skill is also a Daze (1/2/3 based on Adrenaline). Mace 3 is also a 1s daze.
Gave you extra stuns to watch out for also, not many warriors run M/S in roaming though, it’s a very defensive, CC weap set.
My fun laughs at your server pride.

Endure pain is usually an ‘oh kitten’ move, so just dodge around/stealth til it wears out or CC them (it doesn’t prevent any CC effects) so they can’t run away.
Hi Excalibur.9748 I main a thief and have played vs the BG and SoR warriors.
1. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Endure_Pain (note they have 2 sources for this)
2. Endure pain lasts 4 seconds base and can be boosted with traits to 5 seconds
3. There is an Icon that will appear when they use Endure Pain, try to look for it and count the duration out before attacking. (Similar to Shield Stance)

S/P makes any fight against melee pretty easy since you can deal drop a blind field and stand in it while fighting. This forces your enemy to either stand in it and constantly miss or run away, giving you time to put out dps while they aren’t. This in addition to stun locking and dazing any heals from fleeing enemies with skill 4 make S/P work really well with the right build.
You need to be smart with your IS to keep your port at a decent range so that you can escape any stuns as well as to force a moving fight away from your port spot, but if you do this, you can survive really well without needing to stealth.
This is why I’m a fan of 10/30/0/0/30 S/P for roaming.

Here’s bits of streaming against a warrior that wanted to get a few duels through: http://www.twitch.tv/oxygg/c/2391332
One good thing to do is cloak and dagger from the back while the target is immobilized by infiltrator’s and can’t turn around.
Here’s another one I guess http://www.twitch.tv/oxygg/c/2391312
didn’t move.

Most common warrior abilities are super obvious by eye, especially the Burst skills and the weaponset is usually quickly deduced because people love making huge characters for warriors.
Stolen ability is fairly good against most warriors, as even melee weapons have thrown projectiles, so just reflect their stuff back at them. Many warriors have readily available stability and fury, so use that to your advantage since you’re S/D.
Their healing skills are abit more powerful as of the recent patch too I think .. so try to keep poison on them or be ready to interrupt.
Just wait out Endure pain, it’s 4 sekittenraited and has a long CD. He can get a 2nd one at 25% hp if he is heavily traited in Def tree, same deal applies there. You just need a bit of patience, pull back with sword 2, put some distance between you two and kite him a bit (you can still apply conditions, so dagger 4 and sbow 3 is a good choice). If he has a ranged weapon use your stolen whirlwind.
Once endure pain ends continue as normal. Warr should be one of the easiest fights for a S/D spec since you have a free “stunbreak”.
Mace burst skill is a 1/2/3s stun, not daze. With sigil of para it gains like one full second at each stage too. This is the only dangerous warrior skill that has no telegraph at all but it’s range is very short.

Lol – against what nub warriors are you fighting please ?
Yes, please stand in you BP while he uses 100 blades- you know, you will die anyways cause the blinding tick from BP does not tick as fast as the 100blades skill ..
10/30/0/0/30 is a nice specc for sure, but you will never ever win against a competent Mace/shied + GS warrior …. and standing in BP will let you lose even faster.

This is what you call a duel ?
LOL , the first fight maybe , but the second vid is just a baddy running away with GS , taking hits in the back … rofl i would be ashamed to even link something like this…
There is currently no way one can win 1v1 against a M+S/GS warrior who is on the same skilllevel.
Perhaps with conditions but, only in WvW !
In sPvP you just dont do enough dmg to kill them with their insane reg + def capability.
Also, in sPvP most of the warriors use melandru + many condition deny / cleanse utils.
In order to deal direct dmg you have to run zerkers , and a high power specc , but failing to dodge 1 skullcrack most likely ends in Death !!!!
Cause thanks to Anet , ShadowReturn does not break stun anymore !
Thanks btw.
Yeah it was too much, but the way warriors are right now is also to much !
Looks like Ivis knows what’s up.
I made that topic a month ago, so it’s definately a necro but still relevant as warriors haven’t been nerfed since except for the minor rampage nerf.
yeah i know , old topic – but i really was in a rage after having played around 60 tounrys yesterday evening.
M+S/GS or M+S/Hammer warriors all day log , at least 2 in every game.
I finally though, well if you can’t beat em , join em.
Its rediculous how much their healing signet heals , combined with 3k armor and 2k toughness.
And the dmg they are still able to push is enough to kill every profession thats not a bunker !
I missed so many Skullcracks -> HundredBlades it was really really bad, but i still won any 1v1 i had. .. so stupid !
I’ve around 20 tPvP games on my warrior and about ~ 1300 on my thief, but right now i feel so more important for my team when playing Warrior // it’s really sad.

You playing solo Q? What rank are you? I heard that top 100 solo Q everyone is a m/s + GS warrior!
Lol , thats not true for sure , but its really conspicuous how many Warriors run around nowadays.
Ofc, they all played since beta and all had to reroll to someething else before the last patch, bcause warris were so bad QQ :..
Same goes for Necromancers btw.
I am Rank42 and currently placed 970 with my mainacc .
I have also 2 other accounts with lower Ranks ( 15-25 ) , one of them is currrently in top 200 …. matchmaking ftw !
Anyone run into a confusion warrior running the new runes. I saw one last night and he completely wrecked the thief he was fighting
Wu Táng Financial [Táng] – YB
well luckily they are not in tPvp , and i hope they will never come.
But, nice idea – S/P with scorpionwire and runes of perplexity could be funny….
I solo/duo roam as a warrior on anvil rock. In a 1v1, Thieves are my easiest targets. Backstabs are incredibly easy to anticipate and thieves are simple to burst down.
In a Thief vs Warrior fight, unless you get the jump on the Warrior, you simply are already at a huge disadvantage because once the Warrior knows you’re there, the fight becomes “Warrior” vs. "Super Squishy kitten version of a warrior trying to be sneaky but can’t because Warriors have tons of blocks, counters, mobility, and “oh kitten” buttons (Thief)."
However, this one thief I fought absolutely wrecked me. He had blind on stealth and properly avoided my attacks and CnD’d almost perfectly every time.
The only advice I could give you is to play on the Thief’s strengths. Don’t fight like a warrior- fight like a thief. Make intentional use of evades, teleports, blinds, stealths, and bursts. Too many thieves try to backstab me and auto attack me to death only to find out that they just died and i’m left with 50% + of my health left.
FYI: I play an offensive warrior with a bit of defense (Sword/WH, Axe/Shield, 100% crit damage, 2400 power, 300 vitality more than base and 200 toughness more than base)
Just go d/p any not have to worry about warriors again. Keep them blinded. They will always try to run when thier stuff is on cd and they are going to lose. Hardest part is catching them without exposing yourself…
The main issue with warriors is their sodding regen + stuns. Right now I time my bursts in between their stuns/knocks and kite away with SB during the time they are up. Don’t get locked down and slowly reduce their tools.
But they are surely in a powerful place right now! At least it makes for interesting duels
wanna make a warrior rage, spam blind on him.
Also if you are only running one stun breaker vs a warrior you are gonna die if he gets a hold of you. Warriors have a lot of natural cc with almost off of their weapon sets.
Just keep them blinded perm stealth d/p works so does a pistol whip build. You can sometimes get away with a d/d build if you run blind on stealth trait and it’s a back stab build.
Most effective way is d/p condition build and torment/catrop and bleed him to death.
You’re going to have a really hard time killing him with sword/dagger unless he sucks or is glass.
Most of the reply here are an advice that had been told long time ago, and it is useless imo. From the way I see it, most roaming warriors after the new patch will have a massive regen, with either Mace/Shield+GS or Sword/Warhorn/LB.
I wouldn’t care about the latter, I will be more on Mace/Shield+GS. With the trait Unsuspecting foe(give 50% crit chance against stunned foe), couple up with PvT/Cavalier set, a warrior can have 3.5k+ armor with 3k+ attack with huge amount of crit damage, and the ability to stun lock+100b rotation every 10 second. This is scary, it caught me a lot of time on my thief, and it is annoying. This does not mean they are unbeatable, however in order to defeat a warrior with this build it require a huge amount of attention on the warrior movement as well as your use of skill, which also means timing/skill level is everything here.
From my observation getting one combo buttkittened by those warriors, here is what their rotation is:
Berserker Stance>GS Rush+Whirlwind>Swap to Mace/Shield>Shield Bash/Bull Rush>Pommel Bash>Skull Crack(3 sec stun)>Swap to GS>100b>Repeat.
I’ve only beaten a skilled warrior using this build a few times, while others because they are just pure noobs that use OP build. Still, they do deal tons of damage and make me work for it.
The only best way to beat this build(from my experience) is to keep them blinded(so you won’t get caught by the chain CC) and burst at the right time. However it is easier to say than done, mainly due to if you failed to burst them, they will regen back and if you decided to autoattack after your burst failed, you will be exposed to their CC chain and it only means death to you.
tl;dr
Timing is everything.
p/s: sorry for my bad english.
