Question for sword/dagger thieves out there.

I get the whole stealth to daze is its go to mechanic. However, I’m wondering if you guys are using flanking strike at all, or just auto attacking.

The damage seems kinda so so and the side step doesn’t always hit. Paying attention to position helps me make sure I hit with it, but am I wasting int by hitting it two or three times after the daze? Should I just be auto attacking and saving it as a kind of dodge? Or should I just forget its on my bar?

I never touch the #3 skill. I prefer to just burn ppl down with #1, break cc with #2, cc with #2 and #1 from stealth and #5 for stealth and blind when traited. Can’t do all that if you are using the #3 skill (initiative problem). Pretty effective against everything except the D/D elementalist, but in that case I just swap to my P/D and they become so easy to deal with. Also don’t forget to use dancing dagger in special situations.

I’d say that you should use the skill for its unikittenfect among thief skills: boon removal.
Hitting with the second strike is hard, but what people tend to forget is that you can hit a different target with it too. The skill still takes a lot more practice than all the other dual skills do, however: best to just use it to strip off boons, and as free dodges if the situation calls for it.

Oh, and don’t forget that the sword’s stealth attack blinds (instead of dazing) if you’re hitting from the sides, not from behind.
If you have more than one target, Dancing daggers become much more useful. For example, lone Ranger and their pet: two-two hits on each.

Considering that now it’s unblockable, I’ll use it more often than I usually do. I use it for the dodge mechanic to confuse melee players before stealth/daze and continue to dish out damage while boons are gone.

I dont think people realize how good this skill is. It is fine way it is now, and lessening the ini cost will only make ppl qq more. I dont want any qq attention on my s/d.

(mug/infil signet )>cnd > tactical strike
with the right gear u can daze them for atleast 3secs, which is enough to cast cnd after 3 uncontested auto attacks.

Now get traits and skills for endurance and Nobody can counter you, because after 3 auto attacks u have sooo many evades at disposal that you can safely recast cnd > tactical strike combo all the time.

But does the move work? It was wholly ignore by most because it was unreliable, but I always hoped for it to one day work as intended.

Edit: Spelling. See quote below if you must.

It works!

I use it to evade. People are sooo eager to use skills on me after daze runs out so the skill works as intended, evasion while keeping damage pressure at the same time.

It’s sooo funny messing with people, after the daze their first instinct is to burn their skills which i evade using this skill and my 3 dodge(endrance return trait) then its back to free auto attacks for me

traited with fury at 50% and quickness on crit, you would be surprise at how deadly this weapon set is.

Sounds like fun! I will definitely take the sword and dagger out together for spin later.

Situational attack is situational.

Five sentences was to long? Do you have any experience with Flanking strike. The point is not that it is situational, which all abilities are, but rather if any situation really warranted its int cost.
